Anyone familiar with any other autism forums? Not ones aimed at parents of autistic children.

And I think this de-centralized approach is good and healthy!

For example, the Civil Rights movement wasn't just Martin Luther King, Jr. It was the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee. It was the Congress Of Racial Equality. There were traditional pacifist groups and nonviolent action. There were the traditional Civil Rights groups like the NAACP. And probably more as well. And all this made for far richer social change! :D

Agreed.

Most online autistic forums are merely online forums, though.

The Autistic Rights Movement's actual organizations typically only have websites and mailing lists. For example:
The Autistic Self Advocacy Network: http://www.autisticadvocacy.org/
Autism Network International: http://www.autreat.com/intro.html
The London Autistic Rights Movement: http://www.london-arm.org.uk/
Irish Council for Aspie and Autistic Networking: http://www.icaan.ie/
Autastics: http://www.autastics.org/
Asperger Adults of Greater Washington: http://www.aagw.net/
