for a couple weeks straight to direct my actions till I have my life in order finally finally finally. Two days a week just doesn't cut it. Yes I'm one of those twice-a-weekers. I've tried asking my sister etc for help with simple forms etc but she laughs it off thinking I'm being silly and can get it done myself. I can't. I need someone to help me get my life in order. Not forever but till it's in order. Just a couple weeks is all of full-time therapy.

That's what I had initially hoped for when I was put in the psych hospital for suicidality. That's ideally what a psych hospital would accomplish. Not in this country apparently.

I wish you luck in finding the therapy that you want and need. Keep us posted on how it all works out for you. :D

Thank you so much CockneyRebel! It's so nice to be cared about and wished well. By the way I like your current Mick picture! I have not seen such a long-haired Mick before.

It sounds like what you want is a life coach. I have no idea if they're covered under any kind of insurance, but they're much more the 'here's day to day instructions on how to live your life' types than psychologists or psychiatrists are.

Sounds like a great idea, sacrip. I would feel pretty sheepish actually going through with "procuring" one but you're right, a life coach is what I need.

Does your psych hospital have any day programs? Where you don't stay in hospital, but you come each day, or at least several days a week for therapy and involved sessions?

Ours does and I attended it a few years ago, and am hoping to again. It really helps keep me on track, which is a REALLY hard thing for anyone to do.

Maybe there is something similar that your psychiatrist could recommend you for.

Ditto on the Life Coach. That''s exactly what they do.

Therapists don't really do what you're describing.

Hey mb1984 - the psych hospitals around here are nogood. I went to the best one as an inpatient patient so I know their schedule, and they do have a day program also, and it would be as unhelpful/stressful as the inpatient one.

Mr. Xxx - yes I guess it's down to the life coach. I've been hinting to my therapist I need something like this but then like any therapist would do since therapists only see you for 45 minutes at a time she wraps ups issues as best she can in the time allotted and send me on my bewildered way. (That was not a complaint against her by the way. It's just the nature of appointment-based therapy).

Maybe I will cave in and pay a life coach. I just hate paying for stuff that I feel people should do for each other for free. I'd help someone organize their life for free. Paying for an organizer is as bad as paying for a prostitute in my mind. Can't explain why at the moment, too all-over-the-place mentally, but there is a logical basis to this opinion.

Maybe I'll post on Craigslist seeing if anyone wants to swap life coach services with me (for free). I'll help them and they help me. It's easier when it's not your own stuff.

An ADHD Coach might be a good idea. They're life coaches that specialize in helping people with ADHD, and ADHDers have pretty much the same organizational issues as autistics.

Ah I will look into ADHD coaches, Ettina! Thank you! Neverheard of them
