We all hear about people with AS and autism having abnormal sensitivities to sounds (which I don't have much of, if any) but does anyone else besides me have have what I guess you'd call a 'favorite' sound or sounds?

Personally, I love the sound of a distorted Roland TB-303 Bass Line synthesizer. There's just something about it to me that's just so... I don't know... Badass? If you want to hear what I'm talking about, click here and play the first audio clip on the page, right below where it says 'Roland TB 303 Bassline - Quick Audio Comparison test'.

Seriously, I love that sound, especially when it's used in songs like Leave You Far Behind by Lunatic Calm and Confusion by New Order.

I also heavily associate the distorted TB-303 sound with cyberpunk, a favorite genre of mine.

So, what're your favorite sounds?

The sound of ocean surf.

Heavy rain.

Still, calm winter nights.

I like the sound of a London Underground train. Not so much the new ones, more so the surface stock. I used to love the sound of an InterCity 125 when it left a station. I remember making my uncle wait at Reading station until it pulled off

It's a cool sound, though I don't much care for the long filter sweeps in the example you provided. I've never really heard of the term cyberpunk being used to describe music, I always figured it was just a sub-genre of science-fiction. Technically, the TB-303 sound is associated with acid house. Actually, that's an understatement; it is the acid house sound.

Personally, I like the DX7 bass synth sound paired with some analogue bass synth, such as a Prophet 5 or Jupiter 6.

The sound of a heavy rainstorm

The sound of wind howling outside, not quite hard enough to rattle windowpanes

The sound of thunder

The 'shush' sound snow makes as it falls to the ground on very quiet winter nights

The sound of a violin or cello

Most of the sounds I like are natural sounds. Rain, birdcalls in the bush, crickets and frogs in the grass, wind through trees, birds wings, pigeons cooing. I also like instrumental sounds, especially traditional percussive drumming such as lambeg, bodhran, taiko, dundun, djembe, etc. Of course, I appreciate the lack of sound - the silence so deep my ears aren't even ringing.
