I find whenever I watch a TV show or movie I can describe in great detail after what happened during the show/film. But I can't remember what the main characters' names were.

When I read a book I can also describe detailed passages, but have no idea who the author is.

Is this typical of people with ASD? Anyone else like this?

For movies, yes. I forget the names of characters instantly. That's no surprise; I can't remember people's names in real life either.

Authors are not a problem for me.

Yeah, I'm terrible about remembering character names in movies and TV.

I am better about author names, perhaps because I buy primarily based on author. For books that are based on other things, yes I can easily forget.

Oh yeah, if it's an author I really love- like one of my favorites- I don't have a problem. But any other book...no idea.

Movies are actually better if they have memorable names. Most TV shows don't. It takes several episodes before I get much of the cast figured out, and some shows I never do.

I have a lot of trouble with names. I remember details but have a hard time remembering the names of people, sometimes, shows or books.

I don't forget names, but I don't always catch what they are. I never realize what the names are unless they're mentioned quite a few times.
