so my ds was diagnosed with pddnos last year. at this point i will state that i am not his biological mother, so to make a long story short: he was a neighbours child who was put into care and then she suggested we take him in and at that point i found out that she and my bf had a 'thing' right before i met him and may be the father...... anyways, today he had an appointment at a genetics clinic to get looked at and tested for fetal alcohol and drug syndrome based on a referal from his psychiatrist. they did alot of measurements on him and then graphed their findings and came up with the possibility of fragile x syndrome. after some reading up i find that a lot of fragile x kids are on the spectrum as well. he is going in next week to get the dna work started. i guess i don't really have any specific questions. i am looking for someone who may have experience with this or be in the same boat. i am of course hoping this comes back negative but would not be surprised because of his overly aggressive behaviour.

I actually don't know of anybody who has mentioned dealing with Fragile X here, it's not really something talked about which I find unusual.

I didn't think Fragile X caused aggression? Theres characteristic features but not always present. And I think there are degrees of Fragile X based on the number of mutations and they can measure that.
Its definitely worth checking as its one of the things that has an outcome with certainty in that its there in black and white from a test, but note its pretty common to get this done with kids with autism as a matter of routine so don't get stressed (although I know I did waiting for my boys results!).
