I find that even though i know exactley what to say to people it just does not come out right and i end up screwing my words and mumbling. I stutter a lot as well.

Anything i can do to tackle this problem? Can some NTs have this issue as well?

I have been told i have semantic pragmantic disorder although i think i have AS as well for sure.

This sounds exactly like me and that's all I can say. I didn't really know how to explain it, but you nailed it quite well. I don't know if NTs can have it though.

Even before i utter my words and know exactley what to say perfectly it just comes out all wrong :(

I think it can depend upon who i am in the company off. If its my parents then i make less mistakes if its my uncle then i am under more pressure to blurt out my words correctly.

Yeah, I have that problem when I'm nervous, or when I'm not sure what I want to say, or when I'm forcing the words. I've gotten better over the years, but so has my confidence. and when I say confidence, I mean comfort in many different social situations.

Can you focus one word at a time and say them slowly or does it still come out jumbled?

I have the same problem, regardless of stress or other factors, I always seem to have difficulty articulating things. I know what I want to say, but it just comes out wrong and I end up having to constantly correct and re-explain. Interestingly enough, I was recently given methylphenidate for some of my executive function problems and surprisingly my fluency of speech went way up. While I don't like the idea of being on a stimulant, I suppose can't ignore it's positive effects.

Even when i try and speak slowly it CAN come out a bit jumbled and disorganised sometimes. Unfourtantly as well it can make me seem like a weirdo or spaz. Not cool :(

Actually strangely i was at the doctors a few weeks ago (i never met this doctor before) and when i spoke to her my words came out a lot more fluently than usual. the thing is my uncle acutally phoned up my dad a year ago and said to him "why is your son mumbling so much?" So when i around my uncle its like i have too try esspecially hard not too mumble.

I have never heard of PLI before reading your first post, and it makes a lot of sense for me. 8O I have long had problems speaking, but have never known why. I have all of the characteristics in the list on Wikipedia, except difficulty with pronouns and verb tenses. Maybe this is why I have problems speaking. It would make sense, since I have Asperger's too. Thanks for posting this. :D

The only thing that works for me is Ritalin. Even my I write without medication it comes out how I speak. But I can just think and speak more clearly on medication. But yeah, usually I can completely relate to the OP.

Oh yeah what you said. My meds even help me read every reply in a thread. It has worn off.
