I have done a number of TV spots, newspaper articles and podcasts in my life but have only been recently dx'd ASD so am proudly "coming out" with Autism Womans Netowrk"

http://autismwomensnetwork.org/

I am featured main page today just above the Temple Grandin/Claire Danes Golden Globe story. This story is interesting in that I got to discuss the ways that I adapt given my ASD in order to play on a pro-athletic team.

Hope you enjoy, are inspired, etc....

I've been really getting into marshal arts. During sessions it's like one continuous stim. I'm able to disengage from my abstract verbal side and just roll around in the sensory part. It's the only place I can drop all facades, just be me and let it rip. The social rules are easy - try your hardest and you get respect. Just don't ask me to go out for beer later. That's too freaking complex.

HA HA HA! That's pretty much how I sum it up in my interview. The sensory stimulation is amazing but I cannot travel with the team (team bus thing) nor spend a lot of time with them off the field. I have to "save" myself for my day job. Those girls are waaaaay too much social fun for me. :D :D :D :D
