Is there something with AS and spinning- either spinning yourself around or watching spinning things, or both? I know almost all little kids like to spin around in circles, but I kept spinning around a lot until I was twelve or so. We had a smooth wood floor that was ideal for spinning and I loved to sit on the floor and push off with my hands so that I spun round rapidly. I also loved to spin in revolving chairs. I'd spin in them for ages- indeed, I still sometimes do this. When I was about eleven I also went through a period of being obsessed with those little wooden spinning tops. I'd carry a couple around with me and spin them in my palm. Even now I like to spin marbles on the kitchen table. I'd never thought much about this until I stumbled across an Internet PDD-NOS questionnaire that asked about "abnormal preoccupation with spinning activities".

My son likes to spin around in circles so I knew that was a spectrum behavior, but I didn't relate the spinning objects part of it until we started playing a board game with a spinning wheel (particularly the Milton Bradley game of Life with the different colors and numbers). I used to love just to spin and spin that as a kid. I didn't remember that until I saw the game again. So I didn't have a fascination with randomly spinning objects - but I do love the little spinners in the games. I also saw a toy last week that had a magnet spinner that went around this wheel - I loved it both because of the little whirring sound it made and the little spinning wheel. I was too embarrassed to buy it for myself though (lol).

That doesn't sound too weird to me. Ever watch a fan? Have you been able to see the difference between a good fan and a not so good fan? I don't spin marbles or tops but I do know a couple of aspies that do spin objects. I spun around in office chairs and twirled around too. I now enjoy a good fan to watch every now and again. I like seeing the individual blades and making patterns out of the spinning blades.

Used to love to spin as a kid, and still did it in college. My eldest daughter loves to spin and the baby watches the fan like a cult member. :)
Just like the way it used to feel, but I don't do it as much since I became much older.

I sit and watch the living room ceiling spin around sometimes. I just noticed the fan on one of my old broken video cards and have been spinning that when I have been bored for the last couple days. I have always liked spinning marbles and things. It's similar to when like I play with bottle caps, or other random stuff like salt shakers, ect..

I do a little spinning in my computer chair once in a while, but I've never been obsessed with spinning.

Now that people mention it, I used to like watching fans. Sometimes when I lie in bed with my eyes shut I have the feeling that the room is slowly revolving.

I have an obsession with spinning. That's why I ice skate. It gives me endorphins.

I'd think it's quite normal.. When I was a kid I used to spin around.. I still spin around on swivelly chairs.

We can't be the only ones.. they don't make merry go rounds for nothing ;)

My parents have said that when I was a baby, I would watch the mobile above my crib, focusing on one piece at a time. I do the occasional Spinning class at the gym, and I also like to dance which sometimes involves twirling.

I did my share of spinning as a kid, also like ot spin on office chairs and stuff occastionally. Prefer to push myself across the room in them though. i used to like spinnning tops quite alot, the ones where you use the hand to pump them up and then let them go to watch them spin. And i sometimes spin coins and things like that on table tops. But i don't think i'm unusually interested in spinning, its not something i ever did a huge amount of...i don't think.

I still like to spin but did it even more as a child. I think it had some sort of relaxing effect on me but would drive others crazy.

I like spinning objects so much, that when I went to the PNE with a friend, 8 years ago, I was taking part in the little "Contests", and every time I've won a Prize, I've picked out a Mini-Top and I've had 10 of them in my Fanny Pack.

I wouldn't say I'm obsessed, but spinning around on my feet seems to be one of my stims ... :D And yes, I love watching things go round. Yay.
