Do they HAVE to include your medical records in the diagnosis? Has anyone been officially diagnosed without the medical records?

My psychologist is fairly certain I am on the spectrum, but she has suggested that I see a colleague for the diagnosis if I wanted one. She knows I am military and can't have any of this on my records, so she doesn't write anything down during our sessions and I am supposed to be there officially for marital issues (only way to see her without self paying). She said her colleague could do the diagnosis 1 of 2 ways:

1. Do the official diagnosis with a final report in writing for me to keep. (would cost most)
2. Do the official diagnosis without a final report and just discuss the results with me by conversation. (would be more practical at around 500 to 700 dollars self pay)

The problem is, my psychologist didn't say they would have to look at my med records for a diagnosis and she knows not to ask the military records office to forward them because I'm not supposed to be there talking about disorders. So is it possible to get a real diagnosis from the specialist without looking into my medical records? Thanks in advance.

Just fresh out of my assessment and they want to know as much as they can about your early life.

They spoke to my mother at length.

I went into hospital for an unrelated problem as a child and I was sent for an assessment by the doctors.

At that time nothing was known about Aspergers or high functioning Autism.

These records were useful as total strangers to me made notes about my symptoms without really understanding them.

The more information they have the better the assessment.

Do not take this the wrong way but the armed services and Autism are not a good mix in my opinion.

This could be your chance to get out.

It probably depends on the clinician and the country as to whether they include medical records. When I was assessed, I volunteered my records, but I accessed them myself and took copies of a small amount of relevant information and gave it to the clinician. He didn't ask for it.
