Hello,

Does any of you thought that you were Asperger and when you got your evaluation in a place who is specialised in Asperger, the diagnostic said that you are not Asperger and you have
nothing (not AS, not NT ...), you're just a person with somes problems with social situation.

Bye !

P.S.: After a few replies that I got, I will add this :

< Bye ! > Doesn't mean that I want to quit Wrong Planet, I almost write that in all of my messages, I could write Thank you or see ya or something else in my next messages.

I want to tell you that I don't failed my test, I didn't got my evaluation yet, it's just a question in case ...

Thanks !

It doesn't matter if you have AS or not - if you feel more connected to this community than among "normal" people why would you leave? I know it's a possiblity I may not have Asperger's because I've never been diagnosed. It's still possible that I could see a specialist who is familiar with AS who could tell me that I don't have it. For one thing I'm an adult and could very well have learned to "work out" many of the problems just in order to function in society. I think that is probably why there are many adults who think they may have AS then find out they don't. It might not be that they don't have AS but have just worked out many of the social problems just so that they can live normal lives. So who knows, you could have AS but learned to handle the difficulties associated with the condition. It doesn't matter though, I don't think any of us here are that exclusive, who cares if you have AS or not? To me at least you are welcome here!

Hi,

I always begin my messages by saying Hello, and almost finished them by saying Bye, it doesn't mean that I want to quit. I don't speak english very well, so sometime some peoples may don't understand well what I'm trying to say ...

I found a lot of interesting things, ideas and supports here, and I will continue to visit this site for sure.

Thank you everybody !

The local pediatrician told us that my daughter couldn't possibly be AS because she can maintain eye contact and doesn't line up her toys in systematic rows. He presents himself as an expert on AS in children. I say he's full of crap. EWe're still searching for a good doctor who can do the diagnosis. Are you sure the doctor you spoke to is really an expert of Asperger's and AS? Sometimes they claim they are, when they really aren't.

It would help for my future jobs, and to get professionnaly help. Some peoples will accept me more easier if they know why I'm a little bit differents than normal people.

That's what I find that important to me.

Very good point. Sometimes I don't think what I say before I say it. Sometimes I wish I knew for sure if I had it, it would make approaching a new job easier and knowing WHY I am the way I am. As it stands now though, regardless of whether I have it or not that there are people out there that have the same difficulties as myself so I don't feel quite so alone.

At the very least it probably will be a big weight off your back to have an answer from a professional.

As another thought, I think everyone misunderstood your "bye" because we were taking it literally - a very typical Aspie trait

It was actually the opposite for me. Due to my intellectual prowess and mastery of the english language, people including psychiatrist and therapist always just thought I was a depressed yound adult with severe anxiety issues, and bi-polar disorder. Then when I began seeing a new therapist it was the first thing she mentioned to me, we went through and evaluation, and it was noted that I was extremely in-line with the charasteristics of an AS patient. I had previously had a neuropsych eval but they only classified it as NonVerbal Learning Disorder NOS, Panic Disorder with Agoraphobia, and Bi-Polar.

The Therapist I've just begun seeing has reclassified me as

Aspergers Syndrome
Schizophrenic
Panic Disoder with Agoraphobia
and
Bi-Polar

Now she is intent on trying to "Cure" me, even though I don't neccessarily see some of these as bad things (Although I could live without the auditory hallucinations, disorganized thoughts, and disorganized speech patterns from Schizophrenia)

Sorry if I seem like I'm rambling.
