You are not going to believe this - I've been talking to Donna Williams online for about 6 months - just back and forth about wierd things and I sent her some toys in Australlia and she sent me back some rocks and a piece of garland . . . then we discussed the rocks . . .

ANYWAY, I get this email the other day saying that she is going to be in Tampa, Florida in November and wants to come and talk in the DFW area (that is Dallas/Fort Worth for those of you not in Texas)!

After I regained my composure I set about figuring out how much this would cost . . . my estimate is about $3,000 for everything - which is not much if you figure that she wants about 300 people there and at $20 a person that would make the money back twice over and be some good money for whatever organization I get to sponsor this . . . (note my confidence) . . .
Plus, it is a low enough price that autistics without jobs or without good jobs could still come (it is a pet peeve of mine when a conference is in the area and they charge $160 a day for normal people and then $120 a day for autistics - like either is feasable for someone who makes $7 an hour!)

Having AS myself, though, I'm terribly bad at promoting this sort of thing and finding a sponsor - I've emailed some groups, but haven't gotten a response yet - this seems like an amazing opportunity, though, because she rarely speaks in the U.S. . . .

Anyway, I've got to let her know one way or another by 8/1

So, does anyone have any suggestions? If you are very rich that would also help . . .

(sorry moderators - I haven't the first clue what topic to put this under)

I'm in Texas but DFW is still along way from me. My guess is even if I lived
in Dallas I would not be interested. Maybe you could take out an ad in the
Dallas paper and see if people are interested. 8-1-06 does not give you much
time to plan.
