Is your hair wash and wear? I've read girls with AS don't bother with crazy hair style and such. My dad thinks I should take more time to do my hair I am a female. (that's what he said.) What should I say to this? I agree and drop the topic but I ALWAYS do this! I get my hair done and it looks great the next day it's back to how it looked BEFORE the hair cut. I don't straighten it or use any blower or device. I spray it with water to keep it down and brush it down from there. No gel or devices or any such non sense. My parents use the excuse of a guy meeting me with "my hair" the way it is I say no I wouldn't want a boss/students/potential friend/boyfriend to be turned off by that. What's your take?

It is wash and wear now, I don't even comb it. Earlier, it was long and I wore it up, but when I realised I was an aspie I thought
a messy style would be more appropriate. Why look grown up if I'm not going to?

Mine is. On a good day, it looks intentionally mussed.

Mine is wash and wear. Every time I've tried to have it styled, it became wash and wear the very next day. I wouldn't mind having better hair, but I feel tired just thinking about maintenance.

My hair is as "wash and wear" as it can be... unfortunately I was "blessed" with really thick hair, so most of the time "wash and wear" means thrown into a ponytail. I'm married, and it never turned him off so it doesn't really bother me.. spending 9 hours on my hair does. easy win.

I would say though, before marriage, my motto was "what you see is what you get. if you don't like it that's your problem." despite the fact that in all honesty my not-being-accepted DID bother me.... I sure stuck to that motto when it came to how I acted

I'm NT and I've been wearing my hair in "wash and wear" styles for many years. I just don't have the interest/time to spend on fussing with hair every day. My hairdresser knows that my first priority is that I shouldn't have to do much of anything besides comb when wet, towel dry, and go. He's been able to vary my cut from very short to medium length, over the years, but I've never had to blow it dry or use any device. Sometimes I've used mousse or gel, but never on an every day basis. A good cut is key - then you shouldn't have to fuss.

Wash and wear for sure. It's rare i actually brush it thoroughly, it hurts too much to bother with it. I just wear a hoodie over it anyway. and because I dislike the water running over my head, I don't even wash it as often as I should. :/

Mine is wash-n-wear too. My hair used to be really long, down to the bottom of my chest. I recently had it cut short and it's so much better now! With short hair, showers take only 13 minutes instead of 43.

Definitely wash and wear. The most I ever do to it is add some leave-in conditioner to control the worst of the frizz.
I used to have really long hair, but I finally had it cut to shoulder length. Now it's even easier to take care of.
Also at the shorter length, it is self-curling.

Blow drying it makes it stick out and I hate that. I may straighten it if it curls at the bottom which I also hate. I use product in it to mess it up. I just dry it with a towel, brush it and let it do what it wants. When I go out I do at wax and dust (a powder form of wax) to it and style it. But the whole point is to make it look really messy. I do fuss over it like a girl though.

No. I have to blow-dry my hair because it takes hours to completely dry, especially this time of year. And then I use a curling iron - my hair is naturally wavy, but I like it to look curlier. A wash and wear style would be convenient, but I like the way my hair looks.

What's wash and wear when it comes to hair?

I wash mine and brush it. I will have it up in a pony tail sometimes or have barrets in my hair to keep the bangs out of my face.

And I have it styled by getting the long layer cut and my hair curls naturally at the bottom. So no hair spray or curler iron. I am due for another hair cut but haven't done it yet. Plus I have thick hair and I hate how it looks so I get it cut to make it thinner and I like it and it doesn't fly around. Also long hair is such a pain it takes too long to brush and it gets all tangled with knots, even conditioner doesn't work and I hate brushing it. So it's a lot easier to brush it with short hair, no knots.

That's all I do with my hair.

I hate long hair too. Mine is medium length and a bit of a mop now. I think I'll need to get it cut soon. My hair grows really fast. It's thick but straight. Last time I got it cut about 3 people were saying how they wanted my hair. I've been getting that all my life.

The only time I ever had a style was when I had it short and it was flippy on the ends so I had to use hair-wax to flip the tips of my hair to get the desired look. That wasn't really a problem since my hair was collar-length so it was kinda short and easy to handle.

Every once and a while I'll actually fix my hair, but mostly I spend less than 10 minutes on it.

I recently splurged on a higher end stylist and I specifically told him my tendencies (overall general neglect and occasional abuse in the form of yanking ponytail holders out) and needs for my hair (triathlons - and hold up well for months on end due to the fact that I tend to go months between cuts). He was worth every penny. The cut was perfect for me.

If you want to appease your dad (or if you just want to for yourself), perhaps you could have a consultation with a good stylist.
