Has anyone followed a routine for years or decades where they have set it up so that they don't have to interact with anyone socially, ever? I have.

I eat, sleep, work and that is it and that has been going on for a decade. Which is why I ended up at this forum.

How do you break out of the cycle? I am starting to exercise with others and join meetups but normally I get frustrated with the meetups and quit after a couple of sessions.

yeah i can say my routine is pretty similar. and when i do go out into the world, 99% of the time it is alone and to the same places. and in the rare chance where i want to have some interaction and get a little crazy, i can do it for awhile and then i yearn to be back in my familiar places. i guess it has to do with feeling overloaded. i have done the meetup thing before with 2 groups, one was for movies...but all the people were at least 10 plus years older than me, so no real common interests were there from the beginning...except movies. but even the movie discussions were not that interesting or lasted very long, and i went to another group for atheists/agnostics...and while the group was much more fun...after awhile i came to realize a lot of the people were there to just get wasted and not really have deep conversations. so i gave up on them too.

Yes.

And there is no way, at least not for me. Social interaction is filled with people correcting me, and just simple mistakes, being too quiet - feeling dazed by the lights. I shake slightly in a social situation and can't keep up the farce of being fine. So I normally avoid them, but I actually usually will be social but I use my significant other at the time as a buffer - to avoid everyone getting pissed off at me, lol. As of late I have a young niece who I can actually use the same way, gives me something to focus on at least so I don't notice my surroundings.

Yep in my 20s and forced to break it and I hate it.

so after high school here is my aspies social avoidance lifestyle.

1- got temp job as relief janitor. Work in empty schools mainly cover for holidays etc.

2- went to uni. Did not attend just got lecture notes online and went to exams. 4-5 years 0 social interaction.

3- graduate- Get old janitor job back.

4- Quit jaintor job got pizza delivery job.

5- Since high school and up to now I live just with my mum.

Im not a social ret*d or loner though, I have been to some parites played soocer conitnuallsy, had online gaming friends and online freinds.

MY point is that I have avoided socialising in big groups with stragners and at jobs etc...as outlined above.

I have to admit I'm actually looking forward to the point when I can set up a routine like that. I'd just like to have a stable 'framework' covering the mandatory stuff, so I can feel free to pursue whatever interests I have in my off-time. Whilst I get a lot of free time at university, there's always something to be done, I feel like I can't really get absorbed into a (personal) project without jeopardising my grades. I worry that no social contact would be detrimental though, but there's always forums.
