Dox47 just got me to thinking about thinking, and I love having things to think about. I have my own personal "special interest", of course, and almost all of my thought time is devoted to that. However, I really do not much care what I am thinking about as long as I am thinking about something, and one of the most painful things I ever experience is when there seems to be nothing to think about.

Honest question: Can stretching and exercising one's mind be considered a stim?

I sometimes do a little physical stimming, but I consciously do whatever it takes to never stop thinking.

In complete contrast, I have a brother who claims he can sit quietly and think about nothing at all, and even just the thought of that feels creepy to me.
