even though it is in some ways useful to have a pedigreed scientific designation like "Asperger's Syndrome"--i just don't like the sound of it.

the sounds of words are important to me. i would prefer to substitute the words opsablepsia & opsablepsian (or opsablepsiast). (By synecdoche.)

it's a lot of syllables, i know, but they are beautiful syllables.

I don't care for the sound of ASS BURGERS, either, and I cannot understand the insistence on adding a superfluous S to the end of a word that already ends with an S, it seems stupid and unwieldy and only adds to the ASS BURGERS sound, so I never use it. Of course, if you're saying it correctly, it should sound as Ahz-pair-gur Syndrome anyway, but few ever pronounce it properly.

That said, I don't really find your proposed syllables any better. I'm glad they sound nice to you, but they sound liquid and gurgly to me, like something made up by a preschooler. Even if they have some scientific meaning (and I don't see it if they do), I think you'll have a hard time getting the entirety of Scientific Academia and the Autistic Community to switch at this point. If they merge AS and HFA in the DSM, it'll become a moot point anyway, but I doubt the term Asperger Syndrome is likely to fall completely out of use in any case.

But good luck with that.

My partner affectionatelly coined the term "Asparagus". I can make good wordplay with that and I like the way it sounds

Call it whatever you like dear one.......whatever sounds good to you.

Around my house, we are still joking about 'autistic psychopath'...what fun. Glad that name didn't stick.
