I have a specific kind of forgetfulness. I keep forgetting and I have a hard time remembering names of people other than those I am with every day. I can remember faces, I can remember situations, but names keep slipping my mind.

Does anyone else here have this problem?

Same here, I forget names not faces.

Big time. Even people that I work with on an almost daily basis. I have had some people get very mad at me because they remember my name but I have no clue what their name is.

i can not tell similar faces apart. i can not recognize asian faces easily because they are all similar. i never spend much time looking at faces, so i do not develop a familiarity with the contours of a persons "visage" (as it were).

when i am not in the presence of a person that i know, i have a hard time remembering what they exactly look like. the more i try to remember, the more the image becomes distorted due to the undercurrent of doubt that i am accurate in my visual memory.

whatever. my mind is jolted to recognition when i see the person next time.

Exactly the same problem here. I can't remember people's names and I often confuse the names of a few of new people and put them each on the wrong person. I can, however, remember a person's face, and where/why/how we met and what we did together.

I find it hard to remember names too. I remember the names of people who I know well and deal with regularly, but if I only meet people a couple of times or don't meet them or hear of them for a long time, I forget their names.

I'm not really good with faces either. I don't look at people's faces much until I get to know them a little and start becoming more comfortable with them, so I don't recognize the face of people who I've only met a few times or who I haven't met for a really long time.

I tend to recognize people by their voice or the way they talk.

I am usually overwhelmed and having sensory overload when I meet new people and I do have trouble remembering names. I try to repeat them in course of the conversation but it doesn't always work.

These days there are a great many names that the parents themselves have created and sometimes they are more difficult to remember than common names.

Yes, I have a terrible time trying to remember names, and I even had that problem among people I used to work with daily.

Remembering names is the most difficult thing... I couple most people to a certain situation and when they are out of it, then the problems start.

Something that works is focussing on prominent features of people (like a mole, strange hair, etc.). Problem is I tend not to look at faces...

(and to be honest, I cannot be interested by most people on the work place and that is probably the real cause of the problem)

Yes, I am the same way. It always takes me a little while to learn names, but I remember faces with ease.

Yes, most people would tell me that I am good at this, but I'm not.

We have to do this socials test in school, what they have done, is written the situation out and we have to figure out the names of the people involved. I will probably fail the test.

I think we have found a very common trait. Same of the above goes to me. Last time when I changed workplace, I had very hard time to recognize people, names, and faces too. I got the usual sense being regarded an eccentric, weirdo person. My face-memory test was just below average, so I don't know what causes my face recognizing problem, maybe sensory issues. Also, I tend not to look in the face, or when I do this, I only stare, not memrizing. I whish I could do better, it really annoys me, I feel limited. I spare harder words.

I was thinking about this today. I am ok sometimes, but then I will randomly forget their names. Like I will have a crush on a guy and forget his name. That is horrible! The only reason my pets have names is because other people ask me their names. Otherwise they would be "rabbit" "the tortoise" and "the birds" lol.

Whenever anyone asks, my wife and I say our cat is called "Cat" ... and that is that!
