As I keep on saying, I don't know if I have an ASD, but I hate it when people touch me and I wonder when it is okay to touch people.
Basically, what I have observed is if you are good friends with someone, it is okay to touch them lightly on the shoulder to reassure them, or to push them slightly when just joking around. But I don't know at all when it is okay to do this.
Are you asking in order to understand how to react to being touched, or to learn how to touch other people?
As far as touching other people, then just do not do it if you have no desire to do it. I don't think other people require it for social communication and I don't think attempting to mimic this behaviour helps to fit in (especially if you get it wrong). If you DO want to touch other people, that really is a matter of learning when and how it is appropriate - I would have no problem at all in asking people direct questions about touching them.
