Do you allow people to see you crying, upset or excited?

My friends of 20+ years have never seen me upset or crying.

My family (parents etc) haven't seen me cry since my teenage tantrums.

My own family (husband etc) have, I can do emotions at home.

I have always been told that I never show excitement about anything, my parents even said that about me and christmas as a child.

I possibly make myself look more silly trying to hide being upset than actually going with it, most people seem to be able to moan about how unhappy they are or cry in front of any random people about seemingly insignificant things but I would be embarassed. Now wondering if this could be an AS thing?

I am also embarrased to show most emotions in public.

Unavoidable, most times.

I usually go to my room, switch the lights off and cry in bed. HATE HATE HATE crying in front of people. Worried I will when/if I see a psychologist. I'm pretty sure a lot of emotion will come out.

I do, because I'm that sensitive. We're all different.

No, because when I was growing up, I got the message from my family that you weren't allowed to cry even when the situation made it acceptable such as when a family member or friend has died. I've had friends reassure me that it's sometimes appropriate to cry.

Happiness and joviality are free, people have to earn the rest. Very few people get to see anything "real". It is easier that way.

I don't like it but it's hard to control. I'm excellent at blinking back tears but not holding back my anger. Excited is damn near impossible to control. Anyway, no harm in seeing me excited. I'm like an overexcited 3 month old puppy.

This is pretty much how I think too.

This implies that I have some sort of forewarning and control... sometimes I do not so the choice isn't always mine to make.

I try not to show any emotion in public. I'm not very good at it though. It's like people can read my mind all the time, it drives me nuts.

I don't want to show emotion, but I'm not good at hiding things esp. crying. If I am about to cry, another thought that made me cry will create an onset of tears. It happened to me in the middle of Social Studies class once.

Never. I've been told I'd make a good poker player (except, of course, there is that whole thing about not being able to read other people).

And my wife says that when she first laid eyes on me, I reminded her of Dirty Harry!

No, nobody has seen me get upset in probably 10-12 years.

I have a "box" I put my feelings in if I start getting upset around other people, then later when I'm alone, I'll open my box and deal with those feeling then.
