I definatley know that I have Asperger's Syndrome, because I took numerous online tests, looked through diagnostic criteria, and researched. I want to get diagnosed, so that I can get it under control. My parents are taking me to the Doctor, but they don't want to believe that my symptoms were always present. My mother had gotten mad, because she tapped me and it freaked me out. She claims that I never "cared before". I always hated it, but just never got caught off gaurd like that. Please help me, as I do not wish to be misdiagnosed. :D

Write everything down. This is important. Time and time again people will go to a doctor and they freeze up. Having it in writing means you have something to fall back on.

Definitely thinking of specific behaviour examples that occurred before you had any knowledge of the condition can help your case. Written documents about what you were like as a young child would help as well.

Yet I would just try to be honest, if you try and make yourself fit into criteria that you naturally don't or work too much prove your case it will be apparent and just make them suspicious of your intent. Besides you have to consider the possibility you are wrong, even if it is unlikely, and getting diagnosed with a problem that you don't have won't help you solve whatever you do have.

One of the first things I told the person who diagnosed me was that I had done my research and knew the diagnostic criteria. As a result, although I would try to answer honestly, the wording of the questions on AS quotient test made the AS and NT answers obvious and I could not answer without adding a personal bias, so it could not be considered an effective form of measurement. Strangely this seemed to put the person at ease though.

My mom told me I might have AS a few weeks ago, I didn't really believe her until I looked it up on the internet. I'm not sure why you bother getting a diagnosis though. It seems like most people here in WP either have one or plan to get diagnosed, I can't figure out why.

Some (like me) had the decision to get diagnosed made by their parents when they were very young, so the matter was out of their hands. Others are suspicious and want it to put their minds at rest. Still others are certain but want it confirmed so they can get help.

My mother told me I had it before. Now she is saying it is me trying to be annoying. My father wanted to send me to military school. As I stated previously, I know the diagnostic criteria. I fit into it, It felt like it was describing my personality.
