I spend 95% of my time learning things but my main problems are ADHD and severe drowsiness that doesn't depend on how much I've slept. I've been prescribed dexedrine for the ADHD and this works brilliantly, it tranquilises the hell outta me but its purely physical so it solves my mental drowsiness problem too. This drug has many side effects on me though. The worst one by far is it makes me depressed which counteracts most of its beneficial effects. If I'm depressed I can't see the point in learning anything because everything seems pointless. Opioids on the other hand counteract the ADHD and drowsiness and not only do they not cause depression, they do the opposite so I take joy out of learning anything. This is the most productive mindset to learn in. Unfortunately no doctor or psychiatrist will prescribe opioids for anything other than moderate to severe pain or possibly diarrhea. Has anyone here tried using hypnosis to alter your neurochemistry? Hypnotic suggestion has been shown to be well able to do this in the lab. One lab study I came across, they induced the effects of heroin as well as withdrawal and they even reversed the effects of heroin in people that were actually on it. I'm feeling pretty cornered by not being able to self medicate but the thing about being cornered is it forces you to go out and find solutions that you wouldn't have looked for if you weren't under pressure 8)

Hypnosis can be very powerful. The only problem I see with this is it usually takes a little while to administer a 'dose' of hypnosis. Have you got a plan for that?

I'm interested in your idea, anyway.

What do you mean it takes time to administer a dose of hypnosis? I went to a hypnotherapist for 1 session but I hes on the other side of the city so I need to find a more local hypnotist that I'll go to for a few sessions and see if I can get some states anchored. I've been learning all the theory behind hypnosis but I'd the best place to start learning practical self hypnosis would be to go see a hypnotist and get a feel for it.

I honestly need to be on anti-anxiety medication and no amount of hypnosis will ever change this need because of my neurochemistry that DEMANDS GABA neurotransmitter when I get stressed out.... it's pretty obvious that I have autism when I get stressed. You're honestly crazy for talking about heroin on a autism forum. Anti-anxiety medication I could understand but you're either POS cop, a troll, or you're in the wrong forum. Go to an ADHD forum, or a heroin forum. PS: hypnosis is a complete crock of s**t.

hypnosis is great in theory, but there are many folk who are not suggestible. i am one of those unlucky ones, in that each professional try at inducing hypnotic trance in me just put me to sleep with no recall, at least when my back wasn't hurting. since having back pain, i can't even fall asleep from it.

Hypnotic suggestion can give the signal to your brain to synthesise and release more GABA. This happens with placebo effect too. I recommend you read this article

whats crazy about talking about heroin on an autism forum? Whats crazy is that there exist these ridiculous taboos that are prevalent that even the word for them triggers an emotional response in the majority of people.

Wrong. Different people respond to hypnotic induction techniques differently. I don't think the hypnotherapists you went to deserve the title "professional" if they could not hypnotise you. A good hypnotist will get to know you well and learn how to bypass your mental firewall and make your brain accept hypnotic suggestion.
