Do you get lonely sometimes? I'm usually happy to be left alone, but occasionally I do feel that I need some human contact.

I have no family, live alone and retired young due to early success in my career, yes I can be lonely.

The beach and my club friends are my only social places now

The closest I have been to lonely is when there is a specific person I want to talk to, and that person is not available.

But that is not loneliness, it's more like... needing to discuss a specific thing and not being able to. Most of the time I am fine being alone. I think my longest without face-to-face human interaction has been five days or so, although I wouldn't swear to it.

Before the internet, I'd just read books all day.

I only get lonely if I have to be with a group of people I don't relate to.

Sometimes? Yes. Not often though. I might get lonely more often if it weren't for the internet. It fills my social interaction quota without having to be around people.

By the end of a 7 hour long school day, being with someone else is not something I could ever want.

I do feel the same way that I do need human contact hours after being alone.

Most definitely. I think I live in a constant state of loneliness now but I have just become numb to it. But it finds ways of coming out... in the form of depression and anxiety.

Sometimes when I haven't had any human contact for a while and don't expect any soon, I get anxious. I guess that's loneliness. Other times I can go a couple days alone without a care.

The only time I get lonely is after I lose someone important to me, and I'm not sure whether that is true loneliness or a reaction to the loss.

I need a lot less human contact than normal (I think), but I've found that there is a lower limit below which my mental health starts falling apart.

I am happy to be left alone to do my own thing up until may be a year or two ago.

I do feel very lonely at times.

I fear that if something happens to me, I might have no one to turn to!
