An odd thing I've always done is rubbing my nose in a particular way, stroke down with two fingers to get both sides, thenswipe across the bottom and the lips, sometimes that part is several movements. Looking this up, in regards to body gesture, nose touching/rubbing is widely considered a sign of lying :-( or some kind of stress, where your blood flushes and that makes your nose itch. The Pinnochio effect. Well, yeah, maybe stress. I don't know if there's a particular situation when I do this. I'm not allergic to anything.

Anyone recognize that?

It sounds like an allergy to me.

I think of it as more like a tic but I guess it is due to itchiness, however there's no runny nose or anything like that and I've done it since I was a kid. From what I read, itchy nose and ears is a normal response to stress/anxiety. It isn't rosacea; no red flushing face. I do have a certain amount of acne though, even into middle age but never severe. I'm not allergic to anything, not even poison ivy unless it gets rubbed into a scratch. I did once have an allergic sneezing fit walking past a vacant lot in town, probably sprayed with herbicide or something but I'm out tromping through weeds regularly.

It could be stress. If the acne is on your nose rubbing it will make it worse. I wonder if acne is a skin allergy? Maybe skin has an allergic reaction to the oil in the pores and the bacteria and that is why some acne is worse with lots of red blemishes all over the face as well as black heads and white heads?
Maybe the acne is making the skin around your nose itch?

I think it is probably stress. Many of those physical cues that are meant to show lying seem to be simple stress reactions . . . not an oracle of sorts. I know that a lot of those behaviors are things I exhibit under stress when not lying . . . or just as a matter of being.

Being physically withdrawn? Not using contractions? Touching the face? Avoiding eye contact? The entire list describes my normal demeanor. I wonder if we are being "coded" by the NT brain as liars automatically.

I always rub my nose a lot, I think it might be because of nervousness.

Yeah, a zillion tiny blackheads mostly on my nose. The rosacea thing is kind of similar and can also be made worse by stress or situations that make you blush, I'm pretty sure I've not had the red color.

Ack, I'm done with this discussion, I've been rubbing my nose a lot since bringing it up 8O

I try never to rub my nose or touch my face.
