As the most known ways of thinking are:
Auditory/ Innervoice
Visual/ Thinking in pictures
and thinking in consepts

could solely or mainly using memories be considerd its own category?
Or does all the others overlap with it so much that it's otiose?

I don't mean that you can't think of anything that hasn't alreddy happened, more like using the memories you have form previous experiences in different ways to predict and manipulate what you want to happen next.

Does anybody understand what I'm discribing? Any personal experiences and oppinions about this?

I remember someone writing in the "think of a cat" thread that "a cat" = recalling different cats he/she had encounterd previously.

Let me see here. Someone mentions a cat then with memory based thinking I will think about cats based on my memories of cats. Therefore if I see a cat and my memories of past cats are that they scratch me then I would think the cat I'm seeing will scratch me.

Am I interrupting your idea of memory based thinking in the right based on my example?

No but the memory of the cat scratching you will come to mind and then, depending on what kind of person you are, you will move away from the cat so you wont get scratched or you will reflec over the memory to see if you could do anything different so the cat might not scratch you.

Thanks, that was pretty similar to what I tried to explain.

I have memory based thinking and it gets me into a lot of hot water at times, because I also have a photographic memory. If I see something that brings me back to my early childhood before the age of 9, I'm better off not thinking at all or else I could have flashbacks. If I see something that brings me back to the ages 9 and beyond, the memories are pleasant and I don't really mind them.
