Coincidence or a possible cause...
First of all let me say it is not the cause. I really don't know what is the cause of autism. It's just something that I have stumbled on and know a bit about. Folic Acid that our labs are producing, are not entirely the same as the plants that already have them inside them. Folic acid has been being produced since the early 40's and Autism has been first discovered in the 40's. Autism is in the brain, by having to much receptors or to much white matter. I figure that we already know what is different between what we call normal and what is considered Autism. I have been doing alot of reshearch to find what the government and other angencies have been doing. I have failed to see anyone looking at Folic Acid. I can not nor will I state to anyone to stop taking folic acid. I'm just thinking and trying to think more outside the box. I know alot of people that can not take folic acid pills during pregnancy and their kids are fine. Please let me know if anyone else even thought of this?
My mother did not take folic acid pills before, during, or after her pregnancy with me, and I still turned out autistic. I had blood work recently come back stating I had low levels of folic acid. My doctor told me to take supplements, and I have been doing so. I have not had an increase in symptoms as a result.
Two points.
First, just because the term Autism was established in the early/mid 1900's, that does not mean that Autism didn't exist prior to that. Consider, we Giant Tube Worms were discovered in 1977. But they existed prior to 1977.
Second, even if Autism did spring into being when we decided to give the behavior a name, be careful not to confuse coincidence with causation. Coincidences happen millions of times each day - probably millions of times each hour. Random and odds are difficult concepts and most people do not fully understand them.

When will people realize that the only chemical that causes autism is deoxyribonucleic acid?

If you think it's bad that your kid has autism, google "Miller-Dieker Syndrome", "Trisomy 13", and "Tay-Sach's Disease". You'll never, EVER complain about autism again.

Definitely existed before then. My great-grandfather was in many ways the absolute picture of autism, and he was born around the turn of the (19th/20th) century. Same with many, many relatives far older than the 1940s. Also, I have unearthed many older descriptions that suggest autism (including one where it's considered a special kind of "imbecility" or something) without anyone considering it as a separate diagnosis from whatever conditions they were lumping it in with (generally either developmental or psychiatric). Saying autism began in the 1930s/1940s is like saying that fetal alcohol syndrome began in the 1970s just because it was first diagnosed in 1973.

When I was young I worked a fast food job, the pay sucked and I had to wear the uniform provided.
I joined the army, and the pay was a little better, and there were several uniforms provided.
I became a systems engineer at a company where I started making decent money, and the dress code allowed me my pick of blue or grey suits, white or pastel shirts, solid or striped ties.
I went into contract and consulting, and made more money wearing shirt and tie with slacks.
I furthered my consulting more independently and made even more money wearing jeans and a polo shirt.
As the dress code relaxed, my income rose.
Eventually I would be naked and very well paid.
When I showed up at the office naked they explained to me the difference between corelation and causation. Hopefully I have spared you from learning the hard way.
