Do you look your age?

I'm almost 20 but I look about 16. Long face, high cheekbones, large bottom lip are apparently characteristics of an "Aspie face" judging from another topic on here, as well as the docile, distant eyes, and I guess some of those characteristics are also present in a younger face.

But yeah, does anyone else get mistaken for someone younger? Or did you when you were in your teens/20s at least?

After a certain age genetics probably play a greater part, which is why I named this topic "Do you look your age?" Because if you DO look your age, please post.

I tend to think I do, though I've had people tell me they have a hard time thinking of me as not
being 10 years younger or so.

I've always looked a lot younger than I am. Most people think I'm about 13 or 14, maybe 15 at the very most.

People think I am younger now. As a teen and kid, people thought I was older. The youngest I was ever mistaken as was I looked about 16 or 17 to someone and I was 24 then. And the stranger was worried he'd offend me if he guessed my age but I wanted to know and he said it.

People are always shocked that I'm 26........they think I'm a teenager....but I think it's because I act immature and have awkward mannerisms. I also don't wear make-up or do my hair and wear casual clothes.

I don't think the facial features are necessarily 'aspie" features. The only thing that has been found consistently (in empirical studies with proper controls) in many aspie's but not all is a larger than normal head size. The long face is associated with fragile X syndrome (which is found in a VERY small percentage of people with ASD's- although a third of people with fragile X have an ASD and contrary to popular opinion it is not always associated with MR) but the long face is not associated specifically with ASD's. Having said that............ interestingly I do have a long face, high cheek bones and big lips.............but that's purely coincidental. Maybe it makes me look younger.....................

I grew a bread just so pepole don't think I'm a little kid. Someone told me that I look like a 12 year old.

I'm pretty sure I look older than I am. I'm 22 and look like I'm in my mid-30's because I'm fat and on medicine that dries the sh!t out of my skin, and have huge circles under my eyes.

People always think I'm younger than I am which is good

I've always looked a lot younger than I am, but I think medical issues and stuff may finally have me looking my age or older. I honestly don't know what different ages look like so I have no real way to look at myself and guess how old I look.

Hmm...this is something we can't really determine from a simple message board topic. There has to be SOMEone here who gets told they look older and not from medicine or something, right? Someone who looks older will wander into this topic hopefully...

oh, and speaking of facial hair, I'm 19 and can only grow a little bit on my upper lip and a bit on my chin. Although it's also less visible because I"m blonde. That's probably not related to AS but it's always fun to see

I always get mistaken for being younger than I am. People usually guess between 14 to 16. In fact, just the other day one of my brother's friends told me he thought I was 14 after asking me how old I was. People always seem embarrassed when they find out they guessed wrong, but they don't realize that it makes me very happy. I hate being thought of as an adult, so if people think I'm actually still a kid, then so be it! The only reason I tell people my real age is because I love their shocked reactions.

In my late teens I always was thought of as older. Now at my current age, I think I'm going to hold steady and people will start thinking I'm younger.

On the phone, to people that don't know me, they often think I'm about 50.

The reason I've heard given for a lot of autistic people looking younger than our age, isn't a facial feature itself, but due to making fewer facial expressions and often just having a default very loose expression, we get less of the wrinkle effect or something.
