yeah Id be pretty skeptical about this, it seems that many autistic people simply have a problem with recognizing emotions in others, when they can they can probably be as caring and compassionate as any1 else.
However I havent seen this in myself. I have a problem feeling that natural bond with some1 unless its revolved in an obsession. Then all my oxytocin gets fueled in that direction. Idk, I personally think I do have oxytocin its just poorly distributed throughout my brain. Its heavily concentrated in 1 part and not in other parts. Ive thought oxytocin injections would be beneficial for me but I have a feeling Id go completely psycho paranoid if I had them.
Has that actually been offered to you as a therapeutic treatment?! This is the first I've heard of this oxytocin connection at all.
I'm skeptical because of my own personal experience and because the studies sited do not have any factual back up accessable; study sizes, conditions, etc... I personally have a naturally high level of oxytocin and still have trouble reading people. I'm a bit clueless at times but not blind to it - maybe my levels of oxytocin keep me from being more affected?
