hi i have decided that for passover im going to be on a gluten free diet because a lot of the kosher for passover items are gluten free anyhow (they use potato as a grain base because potato doesn't rise) i even bought a gluten free matzah to use ( kind of expensive though) its made of spelt.

My question is how long did it take to take an effect on you seeing differences in issues ?

I'm sorry to tell you this, but spelt is not gluten-free.

You have to learn what is and is not gluten-free first of all: wheat free and gluten free are NOT the same.

The internet has plenty of information.

Then, you have to be very strict with the diet. NO gluten at ALL.

Give it 3 months to test for a clear difference.

Good luck!

I have been trying it for the past week because I have had some digestive issues (polite way of describing it) for a long time. I don't know if it is helping or if it is just the placebo effect but I have seen some remarkable improvement in that department. It is really hard to figure out what is gluten free sometimes and it is more expensive but if it helps my stomach problems, I will gladly pay more and read labels carefully. When in doubt about your favorite foods/brands or you want to find a brand that is gluten free just google "(name of food/brand) gluten free" and you will usually find numerous discussions about all sorts of choices from people who have called the companies and people who have had issues with certain brands.

It took me about 2 weeks to notice a difference on a gluten free diet. I have fructose malabsorbtion, so had to cut out other foods like onion, some fruits, tomato paste etc.

I was surprised that I didn't get an upset stomach from the wheat replacements in gluten free bread, pasta, cakes etc. I already had a very limited diet

I say give it 3 months to really KNOW that it's helping and not the placebo affect.

By that time, you could eat some gluten and see if you have a bad reaction to test further.
