I could just SCREAM right now!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I went to a psychologist in January for my diagnosis. I was called back in March, was told that after a 45 minute interview, they knew I had it and didn't require further evaluation. When I asked them for a report, they seemed confused as to why I would possibly want one of those. She said she could write up "a summary?......" in the email, which indicated to me, she really had no idea what I was asking for or why I wanted one. That was my whole point of paying the money for the evaluation. If I didn't care and didn't want proof I wouldn't have bothered. DUH! Doesn't even take an NT to figure that one out, does it? My psychologist at school told me that they are probably right, but I should have been given a more in depth evaluation that comes with a report. I just checked with two private clinics to see their process, and both of them have NO idea what my first "evaluation" was. I just made an appointment with someone and their secretary said, "unless you're doing a psychoeducational assessment, which it doesn't sound like that is what you need, there is still a very standardized procedure used to diagnose ASDs. Everyone is supposed to follow the same procedure, and a report comes with the assessment."
So, now I feel like I've been completely taken advantage of. My Dad wants to call those other quacks up and flip out at them and demand my money back, but I am waiting to see what my school psych suggests first. I am so ANGRY that I paid all that money, specifically asking for an assessment, and they didn't give me what I paid for. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!! !! !
