I know this seems like a silly question, but I honestly get stuck on it. I feel as if I go to see a doctor that I they wouldn't believe anything mostly because I have an extremely difficult time explaining my feelings/symptoms (including depression and other stuff like voices/seeing things).

That, and I've also recently moved to a new city so I have no idea what doctors to go to or even how to start.

I don't live in the states, I am in the UK, but over here you would start by registering with a drs surgery near to where you live and make an appointment to see a gp. They can then refer you to a psychiatrist. If you are hearing voices and seeing things I would suggest you see someone as soon as possible. Another route would be to go to the A and E and ask to see someone there but I am not sure how things work in your country.

I don't have hallucinations but I do have a lot of social problems combined with depression etc so I am trying to get my therapist to reassess my existing diagnosis and maybe consider an ASD. If you are not good at articulating yourself when talking with therapists/Drs (I can struggle to get my words out around people) you could try writing your symptoms down instead if you feel comfortable doing so.

Find the nearest ASA or other Autism support center and ask for a referral to a psychologist or psychiatrist who specializes in Asperger's in ADULTS. Even if it means driving a long ways, it's better than getting an appointment with someone who may not even know what Asperger's is. Unfortunately, those people have Dr. in front of their name. Don't be afraid to ask questions about his/her qualifications. The evaluation process takes some time, you won't be diagnosed in an hour. At least, you shouldn't be.

If you have insurance, I recommend tracking down a GOOD neuropsychiatrist who specializes in ASDs. Ask for a full neuropsych evaluation.

I am a little unsure that hearing voices and having hallucinations are a symptom of an ASD (although I could be wrong about that) so I think it would be wise to get that dealt with first and then perhaps pursue an Asperger's diagnosis if you still feel its relevant. Hallucinations are usually a symptom of psychosis of some kind and it will probably need medication to treat (an anti-psychotic usually).

Again, I am not a qualified professional so I could be wrong.

Yeah, if you're experiences symptoms of psychosis, AS should be the least of your worries. That said, a neuropsych could deal with all of the above.

I kind of wrote that in a hurry. I'm not sure if it is actual hallucinations (I'm guessing that is how to put it). I had a proctolectomy surgery last year and ever since I've been having PTSD symptoms. I've had depression/bipolar like symptoms for years now and the symptoms of AS have been going on for a while now. I remember taking the Aspie quiz twice a year since 2007 and every time it is the same out come. I've just never bothered with going to a doctor because of the issue in my original post.

I do have insurance, so that isn't a problem.
