I do not do things well when I start a new project or job whatever it may be. But once I get into a routine or get comfortable or just "get it" many times I end up doing quite well or at least decent. Example back in college they had a grading point average system from 0 to 4 with 4 being equivalent to 100 or A. Below 2 was a failure. My first semester I would get a 2.0 or 2.2 but by the last semester I would be 3.6.

Problem is you are expected to “hit the ground running” with everything today.

I encounter this problem as well, particularly when I need to get a good grasp on what the expectations are. I recently took on a new role at my job. My supervisor wanted me to hit certain expectations by the second week. It took me around a month to really get a sense of what I needed to do.

Oh my gosh. This is me, this is me, this is me! It takes me longer than average to get the hang of something, like tests, basketball, acting, or dancing. I face this problem many times in school. But once I get it, I GET IT, and I quickly excell beyond my peers. It's weird. It's like pulling back a string on a bow-and-arrow... Slowly at first, and then... TWANG! The arrow takes off. Like during soccer, whenever we learn a new move, it takes me a damn long time to figure it out. But once I can do it, my brain kicks into overdrive and I'm sprinting around the field like a pro.

This describes me well. Finally, when I get used to it, it's May.

Yep. It's like a big puzzle. Takes time for the pieces to come together. (That's why the autism symbol is puzzle pieces.) NTs don't think in a puzzle-way, but linearly, so other NTs can easily monitor their progress; and as for you and me? -- they look at us and see a mess (which makes holding down a job difficult even though we always get the work done).

Yup, late-bloomer. Outperform most eventually but takes a while to grok the new thing
