I have a blog (www.autisticspeaks.blogspot.com, if anyone cares) and recently, I had an idea. You see, I'm not the best with verbal communication... sometimes I'm completely nonverbal... but I do LOVE to write/type. So, I created a chat room (www.tinychat.com/autisticspeaks) where people on the spectrum who aren't much for talking can go, as a way to communicate and form community. Generally, I prefer that foul language and inappropriate discussion topics be avoided (keep it PG, basically) in the chat room, but other than that, any topic is fine. Come check it out!

ETA: Starting with Mondays from 6-9PM EST. Hope to see you there!

I would love to have this. I've used Tinychat in another community I belong to (non-Asperger's related) and I enjoy it a lot. Those who have webcams can appear on screen as well as chat (I have not done that yet).

Perhaps set up a meeting time for those interested?

10 is bedtime for me, unfortunately - I am in EST. What about late afternoon on Saturday or Sunday? That would accommodate Europeans as well.

i can only use tinychat after midnight EST. would anyone else be around? I can view/use webcams but no microphoned talking, only text.

Well, we're going to start with Mondays from 6-9 PM and go from there, for anyone who's interested.

I'm not up anywhere close to midnight, sorry! Tonight is even unusually late for me, and it's 10:47 now.
