Ok, this is a recreation and may not be exact.

Mom: So I'll pick you up at 2 tomorrow, ok?

Me: Kitty cat!

Mom: Where do you want to go to eat?

Me: I have a cat.

Mom: What is your cat doing?

Me: I have a cat.

Ughhh. And after that bit of talking, I have a surge in the migraine i've had since TUESDAY, stomach issues (won't go into detail), shaky, hot, dizzy... This is frustrating, #autism.

And this is precisely why I didn't come to this forum for over a year.

I gather from your post that it's difficult and stressful for you to talk, but you haven't made it entirely clear. Perhaps people were just responding to the content of the conversation.

Anyway, I'm sorry that you are under so much stress and hope you can feel better soon.

Yeah, that does sound really frustrating.

I don't have problems talking like yours, but I do relate to being put in a position to respond and failing to express that I can't properly respond. It's really stressful and frustrating.

Communication just seems to be so hard to do sometimes. We see the world one way and have one set of concerns and "they" are totally different. There is a good reason why this site is called Wrong Planet. BTW, I have two cats and they are my best friends. They understand. Most people don't.

Take care of yourself and don't let these things get to you.

Do you have an Alterantive / Augmentive Communication Device? That might help get your thoughts out. I hope your mother realized that you were trying to connect verbally even if the content wasn't exactly what she was looking for initially. That's nice she responded "What is your cat doing?" I wonder if she was meaning, "What are you (if you were representing yourself as the cat) doing?"

Anyway, it's a big step that you tried!

Nice cat you've got there!
