Imagine that you are in a perfectly dark room, and you hear an odd sound behind you while at the same time, a bright red light flash in front of you. Ignore any emotional fear.

Question:

Is it logical to conclude that whatever caused the bright red light, also caused the odd sound? Why or why not.

It is demonstratably illogical to assume they have necessarily the same cause.

Not enough information in the question itself. All I can say with any certainty is there was a light, and also a sound. Unless I were to inquire further, that's the end of it.

Survival instinct would correlate the two, logic would come later.

What he said, especially if nobody else lives in the building.

I voted yes because I read the situation incorrectly.

Edit: I would think that they're probably unrelated, but that's not certain (although the only cases I know of where you'd hear a sound behind and a flash of light ahead tend to also include a sound coming from where the light is).

Edit2: Also, define related.
