Many are selfish as far as I can tell. Have you got or met NTs that are just great people?

They do exist, but can sometimes be hard to find.

Yes. Thankfully one of them happens to be my father. I have a few neighbors who are very good people as well, all NT.

Yes, I've met quite a few. One happens to be my brother-in-law. I saw two more just today. Been friends with the male for 12-13 years now, and about 10 with his wife.

They babysat for us today. :-)

Yes, I know a few. One is my stepfather. Others as well.

I also have a lot in common with some neurotypicals - autism is not the only part of my life that matters.

The NTs who go to my clubhouse are very nice people.

I know plenty of good NTs. I don't have many "friends", but I am aquainted with many other parents in my home area. I would say that of course the majority are NT, and so a "friendship" between us could only go so far, unless we shared a common interest.

Most of the people I associate with are NT, and also extremely good people. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to stand being around them. Or maybe....they wouldn't be able to stand being around me.
I am also very fortunate to live in a friendly, safe area. I know that there are many areas, and have lived in areas, where that is not the case.

Of course! Too many to name.

I must say though there are some things they just can't fathom, not having gone through it, so I love this board. (I don't know any real-life self-professed Aspies).

Recent observations indicate approximately 50% of neurotypicals are high in assholitity, 30% are tolerable, and 20% are actually good people. Actual results may vary based on the age group and other statistical factors.

My two only close friends are both NTs and both know and accept my Aspi-ness. I personally think NTs are at their worst in generally during their teen years when they just wanna fit in so they will avoid the "odd kid" at all costs. After 19 or 20, they are less worried about their social status so more likely to tolerate quirkiness, etc. Of course, I still know some obnoxious NTs who treat anyone who behaves differently like dirt but even they calm down somewhat after they hit their 20s.

I work with a bunch of totally OK NTs. I genuinely like them almost all the time. And then there's my GF -- love her to death. So, they're out there!

I have a couple of very, very good non-ASD friends. And if you're insinuating that people with AS are not jerks, well, I've been more than my share of those who are, too.

If great people exist, then there are definitely "great people" who are NTs. It's not like aspies have a monopoly on the "good people" gene or something.

Now, whether great people exist or not depends on your evaluation of people's worth. If you're Schopenhauer, everybody reeks.

I guess I'm looking for hope. I have met a few but not in a while.

Most of my close friends and relations aren't really NT (ADHD, bipolar, AS, etc), but I know good people who are, for the most part, neurotypical. Everyone's got their quirks, though, as far as I'm concerned.
