At home in ones own room, alone, would be the best place to have a meltdown. Currently skipping school for a few days to cool of myself.

I try to make it to my room or the bathroom before I have a meltdown. Places where people will assumedly leave me alone.

I can't let out my anger anywhere. I don't ever do it out in the street, but at home I do and I know the next door neighbours hear because I have such a loud, shrill voice when I'm yelling and it seems to carry and can be heard through solid walls. It is so embarrassing.

Worst places for me are:

*At my workplace (truck building factory - lots of "tough guy" sorts there).
*Anywhere in public - supermarket, train station probably being two of the worst and most embarrassing ones I remember.

Same here. It truly can be embarassing. I feel like crawling in a hole and disappearing after a meltdown. After I've calmed down I look back at the meltdown and think to myself, "that was f**king pathetic! I need to handle the situation better next time". Sure enough, I've come a long way towards managing stressful situations since I was a kid, and nowadays rarely melt down.

I try my best to keep them contained within the confines of my room, alone. So far I have been mostly successful with that but I have had a few here and there at work which were triggered by either mean customers or the management.

Well, almost every place is inappropriate for a meltdown, so it's hard to avoid having them in inappropriate places.

I've had meltdowns in many places and it has caused me a lot of embarrassment and people have judged me for it, because very few people have any idea what's going on or how autistic meltdowns work or why they happen.

I've had meltdowns in every workplace I've had, at school, at family gatherings, in a car with more people, on public transport, at a trainstation, at a bus stop, during a hiking trip and many more places.

I wish I could go somewhere private before the meltdowns begin, but that's hardly ever possible for me. They start quickly and people usually notice, and even if I go to the bathroom or somewhere else to be alone people tend to follow me to check what's going on or thinking they can help me by being with me, even though I really just need to be left alone.

I hate meltdowns.

I am new to this. I have had meltdowns all my life but never associated it with autism. I don't know if mine are autistic meltdowns or some other kind.

I try to make it to my room or a bathroom ( which i've done since i was wee) but right now i'm staying in a psych unit, and one of the worst times was when i was having a meltdown and needed the light off and my hand's over my ears, but one of the nurses insisted on having the light on so she could watch me through the door, which made me a whole lot worse.

at home as a child, screaming and hitting, out on the street age 22, but it was justified. two guys just came around a corner. one touched me inappropriately and the other laughed. they walked away and i chased them, blocked their way and i was carrying a pretty heavy suitcae and i aimed for the man's head. he ducked. it would've killed him if he didn't, because i went for the temple with a lot of strength, and then i aimed for the guy that was laughing, between the legs. he moved back and didn't get hurt. they walked away and didn't bother me again.
i never attack without provocation, by the way. what saved those two suckers was i pulled my arm way back before hitting. later, in kickboxing class, the instructor told me that makes people see it coming... i'll be better next time. but then i've learned to control my rage - i think.
had one meltdown at school when i pinched a girl that picked on me. i don't remember what she did or said, but i saw a red fog and then the girls said i pinched her and i didn't remember doing it, but she had a nasty purple bruise on her leg and was crying. i'm sorry about that now.
i almost never lose my temper, but when i do i see a red fog and may or may not remember what i did, like a blackout, and i'm not responsible for my actions.
so home, school, on the street, once at work when i grabbed another worker's arm and shook her, but that wasn't a serious one. i still knew what i was doing.
you keep talking about meltdowns here but you don't write if you hurt someone, put your fist through a wall, scream or just talk angrily. if you make it to your room or the bathroom then i guess you can't hurt anyone, so i guess you just lock the door and scream.
those meltdowns are scary for me because i lose control so completely. i never get them when dealing with children or animals, or someone i care about, never. i only get them when i'm being severely bullied.

I've done it at school allot... Mine usually consists of me just breaking down and crying usually get very angry as well. (I'm a fairly large male often told to be 'mean looking' by the way....)
Like the first time in a new class I often ended up getting over stressed and breaking down into a cry, then if anyone mentioned it or bullied me I would often get very angry and usually end up in a fight...

The worst part is it's not conventional thoughts or anger in my mind, It's like I turn into a demon who only want to kill what ever made me angry! The worst one ever was after days of being bullied at school and home my brother was still being mean whilst I was making a sandwich, soon after I only just stopped myself from stabbing him(With a butter knife but still)! Then the feeling afterwards is the worst, I feel so evil and scared at what could have happened!

(They're now far more under control and I haven't nearly hurt someone for a long time FYI...)
