Im in 20s now and since a kid I just love video games.

Well I guess iM not addicted in that I could live without them

BUT

I play for like 5-10+ hours per day.

If I wanted to and some days I wake up and play video games until I go to bed.

Asperger or not obviously its ideal as involves no social contact, excpet online which can be a good social outlet. IT involves fantasy and imagination etc...Experience real life without livign it in some games also.

Like I really loved the GTA series. AS if I were interacting in a real 3D world in the comfort off my home.

Obviously I like fantast also like RPG and oblvion. I find the graphics and envirnment brearthtaking.

I also like shooting and war games. ANd flight sims.

I wonder if autistic people can become more absorbed in the games mentally as its easier for us to feel like we are inside the game and expereince it on a higher level? lol

I've been playing video games my entire life, pretty much since I could hold a controller. While not "addicted", at least in comparison to some people I know, I've spent literally thousands of hours playing games. While I don't always have the time, there are still days when I do nothing but stay at home and play. I enjoy it, but I do get annoyed after awhile because my eyes and hands sometimes end up hurting. And, of course, "real life" gets in the way too. Oh well. My goal is to eventually have a job that allows me to work part-time and spent the rest of the time pursuing my interests and obsessions. Probably a good chunk of that will include video games. :D

I've been way too poor to keep up with video games for a really long time now, but I still love playing PS2 and earlier consoles.

I just got into MMORPG's and they are twice as addictive as regular single player games. I think the social aspect of them makes them appealing to those who struggle to socialize in real life (like me).

I love to play video games, but I don't play as much games nowadays as I used to when I was in grade school.

I don't keep up with them, either, so I play old and new games alike. Not having money cut down on the variety of games I can play, but it didn't cause me to quit.

I like video games, although I tend to lose interest in most of them... I don't like playing online against other people because I feel I am worse than most people online. So I only play versus modes with my brother, sister, or brother's friend. Still not very good at that. I do okay in most story modes, although sometimes I get stuck.
For example, I bought and played Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2, on my brother's PS3... It was good up until the Kakuzu boss battle which, to me, was insane on the last part. I managed to beat it, after much swearing (which for me is out of character)... I also didn't get the S rank so I missed a trophy. Actually I missed several trophies...
Also, that game had an online versus component. Never tried it, but I'm sure I would've been crushed. The local versus mode I wasn't too good at either; I could beat the computer, but not my brother, sister, or brother's friend. A few weeks later we traded the game in at GameStop for something else...
The game I'm playing now is Pokemon White... and that doesn't really hold my attention either. I'm not very competitive, so I don't battle, and the global link is not-so-great. I try trading over the Global Trade thing, but most of the pokemon are hacked. That or the person is asking for something I don't have.

I'm 14 and I go through waves of being completely addicted followed my mild addiction and the cycle goes round and round...

For instance, I was completely obsessed with Pokemon Pearl for months, playing at every single opportunity, and now I only play it for about 2 hours a day, preferring instead to play other things like Mario.

I do think it's common for us to become addicted. We can focus more on the things we love rather than being distracted by social happenings and gossip. We can get caught up in it because the imaginary worlds are much kinder and clearer, more easy to understand than the real world, and we can really immerse ourselves if necessary! That's how I feel, anyway.

I still play Atari 2600 games, even. With an emulator, since I wore out both of my Ataris, haha.

I play a lot of video games, but I cut my playing down a lot in the past several months, because the graphics/multitasking/etc was overloading.

I guess my behavior could have been described as "addicted" but it's how I deal with all of my interests - without much moderation. When I am into a video game, I play for hours every day. When I am into a book, I read it for hours every day. When I am into a TV series, I watch it for hours every day.

There have been times I wonder if I was addicted to strategy games. I've never gotten into MMORPGs or anything. But I spent hundreds of hours (perhaps thousands) on the Total War series and the Civilization series. When I was younger it was Starcraft, C&C, Warcraft, etc... Plenty of nights I find myself sitting down at ~10 pm to play some Medieval 2: Total War, and the next time I look at the clock its 4:30 am

Strategy games are the best.

I think my favorites tend to be the science fiction games - Sword of the Stars, Galactic Civilizations, Master of Orion, and Alpha Centauri. I do like Civilization and the like as well.

I do own Rome: Total War but I bought it digitally and it came with no manual. I had no idea how to make it work, but I think I would like to.

I also still do the RTS: Dawn of War (unbalanced but fun), Dawn of War II (not very far into this), Starcraft, Warcraft, Command & Conquer, etc.

How could I forget Alpha Centauri? *slaps forehead* that game occupied a lot of my time. I'm hoping on a sequel. Actually I heard there was a Civilization IV 'Alpha Centauri' mod, I should look into that. I also really like Spore
I played a lot of R:TW as well. That game ate up my high school senior year. This site might help you out, http://www.twcenter.net/ as I think it has tutorials (as well as a forum and wiki) for all the TW games

I also forgot Kohan, which I liked for atmosphere/story. I have Sins of a Solar Empire, but I never seem to manage my priorities well and can't get off the ground.

Thank you for that tutorial site!

I would really love an Alpha Centauri sequel.

I actually have some other fantasy games like Elemental (which I didn't really enjoy), Spellforce 1 and 2 (got them very very cheaply, they seem decent), Age of Magic (played tutorials, but not much else), and Master of Magic.

I also like X-Com: UFO Defense, which - like Master of Orion and Master of Magic - is still pretty fun despite the age.

If we keep this up the thread may go into the video game forum.
