What would an AS/ASD world be like?

We talk about how being AS/ASD in an NT world means that even if we're not face-to-face with ignorance or prejudice, in general the way the NT world works can make things a bit challenging for us, I wonder what it'd be like if we were the majority and NT's were the minority.

How do you imagine the world would be like? Maybe we'd all be more solitary and we'd see academia as more important than popularity so we as a race would be further forward...maybe we'd all be doomed...or maybe it's just be like the NT world as perhaps we all (NT's and AS/ASD's) are just different shades in the neurological rainbow.

I think it would depend how much of a majority we would be.
I think the perfect world would be around 50:50 or 60:40 in either favour.
However, if we were left with this world, this society, I think it would collapse.
That doesn't mean though, that if we had been dominant all along, we wouldn't have been capable of running a society - it would just be a different one than the one we have today.

Just my opinion.

Suppose a disease wiped all NT's off of the face of the Earth within the next 2 months. Supposing only those with autistic genes would have immunity, I don't think much would change at first. We would probably all continue to do our own thing, until we would discover that it wouldn't work. We would have to come together and establish a new economic system (hey, who is going to work at WhackDonalds?). Whether or not that would actually happen, I have no idea.

But, suppose it was the other way around. If all aspies and auties were to be removed from the population, I don't think it would be that significant. All I can think of that would happen is that technology would advance at a much slower pace, or even go down quite a bit when the few people who understand it are dead. Still, I don't think it would have that much of an impact as there are still smart NTs in the world.

Rudy Simone wrote a really cool article about this. Let me see if I can find it.

Here it is!: http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/asp ... s-the-norm

Just thought this might be interesting since you were on the subject.

We would all be so wrapped up in our special interests that we would forget to breed and humans would die out.

I suppose if breeding WAS the special interest of enough aspies we would end up with humans that do nothing but breed.

Oh wait. We already have that.

Exactly. Couldn't have said it better myself.
