I've been in a mess of a relationship for awhile. Started six years ago. Was wonderful and I really believe we both love each other, in some deep twisted way...

But it's just not happening. It can't happen. So I've cut it off.

Though I know, intellectually, that it's a mess, emotionally I'm kind of hurt. And I'm not the type to ever say that someone could hurt me.

I am capable of missing someone, and wishing things were different.

So if anyone out there is able, could you send me some positive words about "love that just isn't going to happen" because of circumstance?

Or maybe tell me that I'm not a loser.
Even if I am.
ha

You're not a loser. You're human. I'm sorry about what you're going through right now. Hugs. :O)

Love, by itself, is not enough. For a relationship to last, there must be equal parts of endurance and sacrifice for dealing with the hardships you will face together.

Lots of people fall in love, but it doesn't last in the face of adversity. This is true for everyone.

You're fine. Some relationships don't last forever. You can click in a lot of ways with someone, but if you don't click in the ways necessary to sustain a relationship, then it won't work.

Yes, and may your recovery be well.

I always take a long time to get over love. Its important to keep busy, talk with friends if you can, and remember to eat well and take care of yourself.

The river of life bears away its sons and daughters

I am not the best person to offer you advice. Relationships are not my strong point. There is very little in your post to allow us to understand your situation.

Love is a two way thing. One or both partners being on the spectrum does not make things easier. Have you tried telling your SO how you really feel?

In any case, you are not a looser. Sometimes we have to take the extra step to make things happen. Sometimes we have no control of the situation, particularly in relationships, and what will be will be.

Whatever the outcome my thoughts are with you.

Best wishes

Sorry to hear what you're going through. It's always a shame when people split up, but if it was that bad, then at least you're freeing yourself up to get together with the next one, who will hopefully turn out to be better for you.

I hope I can give you some comfort by telling my story, there is not much else I can do... Be strong, we are all with you.

My only relationship lasted for almost a year, and I was the one who had to make it to end, just like you. How ingrateful of nature it is to suffer both from the loss and being its cause at the same time.

It took a long time to me to get over my strong feelings, say, months, the seemingly inescapable affection, which was a pain to my heart, indeed. Friends of mine didn't realize completely how deep I felt toward her, and how far beyond rational thinking it was. I wish I could change the past, the series of events, in which I should have behaved better. I write this despite the fact I know rationally there isn't the slightest chance we fit together ever.

Not a loser at all. A failed relationship is not failed humanity.

Being able to get out when it is not working is pretty mature, and generally a very good idea. Not a failure.
