My 13 year old cousin keeps repeating "You're so weird!" as if she were a broken record. Or, rather, a record being played by a broken phonograph.

My relatives call me weird too. One of my favorite characters is Cousin It from the Addam's Family (my cousins thought I was weird.) I used to put my hair in front of my face (it was very long) and rode around in a car with my friend driving, waving to people as we passed them. Those were my Cousin It moments and they were fun.

I've been told I'm weird on occasion. I think my mum has stopped calling me weird and just asks me questions.

Recently:

"Why are you reading about the weather?"

"Because it interests me."

"Ok..."

They just tell me I'm cute or "weird in a good way" :)

I have been called "weird" on many occasions, often because of the way I approach a topic or problem.

Hah! Yeah, one way I've approached a problem in my physics class was like ... "Well, we already had a problem like this and the answer to that problem was 47.5, and the difference in angle between this problem and that problem is 3/4ths, so the answer has to be 47.5 * (3/4)."; Apparently, that approach doesn't work in physics when you're 'supposed to understand it'.

But, in my particular case, she called me weird after I placed the coke can on the coaster at the computer desk and then walked away to the sink to wash my hands. I don't think she understood I was washing my hands to rid myself of the pizza grease so that I could operate the computer without ruining the keys, so the act of placing the soda can on the coaster probably seemed pretty 'random' and subsequently 'weird'. Of course, there's been many an occasion she's called me weird that didn't necessarily involve a distinctive action such as that -- just existing seems to provoke the accusation.

Occasionally. I have found that people are more attracted to my "weirdness" than they are to others'. I'm no circus act, but I have found that, through humor, people are more forgiving of possible "weirdness" than if you are not funny.

I'm not really funny on this site... partially because of the strict rules.

I was shopping in Army & Navy one time and a couple of teenagers were looking at me. One of them said to her friend, "Oh, it's that weirdo."

Of course they do. Even so called normal people get called weird sometimes.

no. most people who encounter me do not really feel sure they can predict what i will do, so they refrain from inviting my displeasure.

Odd. Weird. Strange. Aloof. Quirky. Different. Unique.
I can't remember not being called these things. Although these can all be compliments (and I choose to take them as such), I realise many people say them in a way that does not indicate this.

My favourite example: We moved house about 18 months ago. It turned out that our new neighbour used to be my boss 15 years ago. Shortly after we moved in, our neighbour invited us round for coffee. I was asked how do I take my coffee. I said "I don't. I drink tea. Black, no sugar, no milk, please" and then waited in the hallway until I was invited into the living room to sit down. The neighbour looked at his wife and said "She always was a strange one".

I didn't think my behaviour was strange, and I was certainly oblivious to my strangeness in the work environment 15 years ago - I thought I fitted in quite well, but apparently not! I'm still trying to work it out... I answered the question I was asked, and waited politely instead of assuming that it's OK for me to walk into someone's living room with my (possibly dirty) shoes on. Where's the strangeness in that???

I am really weird. It surprises me more when someone doesn't think it.
