I have a problem in school where every minute of the day I am always daydreaming about something I don't know why. I am on the ASD male and 17 and people seem to think I'm slow in the head when I do this. They think I am slow when I react to them delayed because I was thinking about something else. I frustrate so may teachers and students that they get ticked off at me every time I space out and I do this a lot when I'm bored. I have way to much imagination time and I am always daydreaming about something I watch on TV or YouTube or whatever. I respond extremely slow to other people and they get so ticked off at me and flip out on me whenever I am like this and I was wondering am I the only one with this problem?

Daydreaming is a common aspie trait. And no you're not the only person with that problem.

Do you think Albert Einstein came up with the idea of general relativity solely by crunching numbers? Absolutely not. I'd be willing to bet at least 30-50% of his inspiration came from daydreaming.

While daydreaming can be a problem for aspies, it's no coincidence. This is why many famous people are aspies, because daydreaming is a catalyst for brilliant and innovative ideas.

I used to day dream all the time when I was in high school and college. I wasn't being challenged enough.

Yes look where daydreaming got Einstein. Nothing less than a Nobel prize. I still don't understand why the schools and the bosses are so against day dreaming when day dreaming is a good way to come up with new inventions and technology.

I guess I wasn't also, but I did it more in primary school. Maybe some kind of motivation was also lacking.

There are times that it takes me hours to do something like putting on my shoes because I can't stop day dreaming.

yeah me too.If I am in a class that does not give me something to actually THINK about ,then I begin to daydream, altough I think this is helpful in some subjects for example : art and english.

I'll start daydreaming even if I'm focusing on something I'm interested in. I'll "wake up" and realize I've been daydreaming and think, "When the hell did that happen? And how long have I been doing it?"
