Good thread Ci. I agree with the humor.

Let's see:

I often tell people what Asperger's is. "My wife comes home from the grocery store with her arms overflowing with bags. She almost drops a bag. She keeps looking at me and making strange gestures with her arms and clearing her throat---so I get her a coughdrop."

I heard today that mercury can cause autism. I agree because Mom and Dad had a Mercury Marquis sedan when I was growing up. (Ok---a bad joke).

I have trouble getting videos to link or play on here, but I can tell you about someone I really enjoy. His name is Professor Carl Hurley--"The World's Funniest Professor." He also speaks about humor being so good for us. He usually says about things, "You might as well laugh." So you can probably find him on Youtube.

Carl Hurley likes to talk about things like, "What about those telemarketers...you can have a lot fun with him. One called me the other day and I let her go through her pitch. Then when she got to the end, she asked me the question...and as she waited for me to answer I said, 'They came last night.' 'What?' she said. 'You know...from up there...they came last night.' Then she hung up real quick. Another thing you can answer them with is, 'Today's my birthday...you know what I'm wearing?'

Well...it's funnier to see him tell these jokes. Now this actually happened to me:

I had fun with a vacuum salesman once. My wife and I had just put in brand new carpet all over the house. And a vacuum salesman knocked on our door. He wanted to demonstrate this $1000 dollar high tech vacuum. I said, "Why not." So he entered and got things set up. He put these little filters on the hose to show how much dirt he was going to get out of our carpet that our old vacuum left behind. He swept and swept and swept...and I wish you could have seen his eyes when he looked at that filter---it didn't have a speck of dirt anywhere on it. He tried again and still failed to get anything out of that carpet. He asked to see our old vacuum. I went to the closet and got out our $29 K-Mart blue light special model. He packed up his things and left real quick. He never came back.

And a telemarketer called me once and asked, "Can I speak to the lady of the house?" Well...my wife didn't want to be bothered so I thought I would pretend to be her. Now I have a deep voice, and I said to the telemarketer, "Speaking." That telemarketer acted real stunned, "No sir, I mean the lady of the house." And I replied, "That's me, what do you want." I never did find out because she hung up.

That is funny.

This joke would work better if it was something like mom and dad conceived me under the astrological influence of Mercury.

Ci, don't you think this should be in the random discussion forum?

Sorry it's just my OCD. I don't like seeing things out of their place.

I'm not sure. Humor about autism and other humor from people with autism. Also for the general health benefit of people on the spectrum.

Hi wavefreak58---Mom and Dad really did have a Mercury Marquis  .

About this thread being moved to Random Discussion---I can see the reasoning for that, but IMO I kind of like it here on the General Discussion---I think it's needed here. For example:

Last night I was feeling pretty stressed. I was just looking around on the General Discussion and ran into Ci's humor thread. I looked at it, thought it was funny and posted. I then felt a lot better---I needed the laughs. I am not sure I would have found it had it not been on the General Discussion.

I look forward to reading more on this thread and adding to it. Thanks Ci.
