What influences does asperger's have on personality? I know I fall into the Meyer-Briggs category of INTP. I would describe my personality as being somewhat quiet, introspective, and a little less serious than sometimes I should be. I struggle in relationships at times because I usually will want to reason things out, while the majority of people seem to get highly emotionally charged, and I think I appear either indifferent or even cold when I am just trying to work things out. When I do get emotional I feel less in control of my faculties.

Are A.S. people prone to be a certain personality type? Or do they appear to be that type because of the negative aspects on communication and socialization? Is part of the problem with autism not so much poor communication, but having an uncommon personality type which in the extreme can lead to antisocial behavior?

I think you'll find a high number of autistics fall into INTJ, INTP and I'm INFJ.

ISTJ is another one.

I guess that personality is shaped by biology. If you've a more or less sensitive nervous system, you'll turn out one way or another.

First time I took this test back in college, I came up as an INTP. The instructor was floored because she never had a female student who came up with this result before. Leave it to me to be the oddball. Just for fun, I took it again, & this time I came up with ISTJ. Now the odd thing about this type is that Eeyore is a fictitious character under this personality type. I have often been compared to Eeyore. LOL So I'm confused, I can still relate to the INTP, so how did I end up as an ISTJ?

I usually get INTP as well... is it rare for females? I never realized that!

Yes, only about 3% of the population is INTP. Men dominate this personality type.

INFP here.

I think the aspie stereotype is a bit like INTP, or sometimes INTJ...but in truth, aspies are many types.

Interesting. I wonder why that is... well, guess that's just more evidence that I'm a little unusual. Thanks for sharing. :D

I flip flop between INTP and INTJ.

INTP every time. Consistently for years.

Is it realy only 3%? That is less than half of what it would be if the personality types had an even 1/16 representation.

It could be different now. I was going by the statistics back when I took this test in college. It was about 30 years ago. 3% is what the class instructor said the statistics were at the time. She was a physchology teacher so I have no doubt it was accurate for the day. Three percent of the total test takers were INTP & were male. She had no stats for females who were INTP. I was the first one she'd seen in her years of teaching.
