Hey

I've just started a new school and am 16, it has been going well so far but for the last couple of days I have been blocking up and not wanting to talk to anyone. Does anyone have any ideas how i can improve this? I do not want anyone to think I am antisocial because I am not, but I dont feel comfortable enough around them to talk about my AS yet. It is worrying me because I cant make myself feel any better when I block up, and I want people to like me.

My advice is to take your time and dont tell anyone but your closest friend (singular only tell 1) about your AS. NTs tend to act weird when they find out your different (which is weird because they could already tell you were different).

Just be approachable and wait. If you get impatient find a person whos off by themselves and talk to them ask them about the other students and what they know.

Familiarity will make it easier to approach them.

If there are any clubs or groups where people who share interests with you meet, I suggest you meet people there.

Think about what you are going to say to people before you talk to people... make sure it makes sence and goes along with what you are talking about. You won't have to tell anyone about your AS that shouldn't matter in friendships. Also remember that school freindships are mostly temporary and you should not do stupid things to impress people.

Good luck!
