Aparently the colorist of some of the Sonic the hedgehog comics is on Deviant Art.

Cool I guess. I never tried to talk to him or anything (perhaps becuase I just discovered he has as an account like five secounds ago). I might sometime (probably about color programs but than Photoshop 8.0 and Correl Painter Esentials 4 are working just fine for me). Anyway, from some of the comments, it looks as if people are crawling all over themselves because they have discovered he has a DA account. Why? All he does is color Sonic comics. If I came across the guy who wrote them or the dude who thought him up in the first place, I doubt I'd be crawling all over myself. This freaking out of over the colorist's DA account is rather tame compared to some celebrity worship I've seen. Even adults scream when they see certian singers and roll around on the floor. Temple Grandin even talks about this so it isn't a new thing. When the girls at school were doing it with Hanson, I wanted to smack them and sometimes would. Why do people do this?

I don't worship any celebrity or anything. Their personal life is not interesting actually, who cares for their pathetic drug addictions, plastic surgeries and all. I think most celebrities nowdays are being bad role models for their worshipers anyway. My sister is one of those so called worshipers. She has a temple at her room of Jessica Alba, she knows everything about any celebrity and she watches E channel all time long or reads some celebrity magazines. I despise all of that, the culture, heck it reminds me of Stalin's cult of personality.

I don't worship the celebrities of today. I look up to the celebrities who were popular in a much more innocent time. I've found two good role models by doing that. Two healthy role models. Mick Avory and Aretha Franklin.

Here's his DA account.

Anyway, I could never figure it out why people obsess over celebrities. I was obsessed with Timon as a litte kid but if he were real, I think I would just adopt him as my pet.

I do not worship celebrities. It absolutely baffles me when others do, and make such big deals out of anything to do with them.

This.

And I don't know why some people try to suck up suavely to well-known people (media professionals, actors, politicians, etc) by worshiping them obsessively, instead of just being themselves and making their fortune all by themselves.

I think that's what I was trying to ask. Why do people "suck up" to celebrities like so many are doing on this dude's DA account?

The celebrities I would worship are the pensioner musicians (or the ones still madly touring after 50 years, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr etc.) and the dead musicians. Sure the majority killed themselves with drugs, and God knows what they got up to behind closed doors, but it's the brilliant music they have left that matters.

I live in Southern California but nowhere close to Hollywood. However the news here is Hollywood/celebrity, & LA-centric. The rest of So Cal is often forgotten due to the antics that go on in LA. I'm tired of it. Don't care about who's doing what...it's just not important to me what celebrities are doing in any given minute. They're people, same as anyone else, but their faces & names are recognizable. They have their hang ups & flaws, no different from the rest of the population.

I tend to despise the way celebs are worshiped. I may like some or a lot of their work(like movies, music ect) but I think a lot are horrible role models & they should NOT be imitated. They are famous for the sake of being famous & they act wild & crazy so they can get more media attention or because they think they can do whatever they want because they are famous. People need to be their individual selves instead of copying people like celebs. I may be a little hypocritical thou because there is one celeb I'm obsessed with & have a HUGE crush on; the iCarly star Miranda Cosgrove. She is NOT a typical mainstream idol thou. She is NOT doing it for the fame or seeking attention like most are. She is real, relatable, smart, mature, responsible, wholesome, well grounded, & she has a really great head on her shoulders. It seems almost impossible that anyone could have that much success with acting & music especially from that young an age & not be corrupted & lose those good qualities. I consider her the best role-model out there rite now & that has a lot to do with why I completely adore her :D

Perhaps, they try to identify with the meticulously created image of them (celebs, not that dude), thus releasing some stress, a kind of mental stimulation. Virtual reality, virtual happiness. In case of this dude, to share the taste of success at least to a remote and small degree. Craving for success, not having proper self-esteem. What I wrote in the above post is a little different, it's about deliberately doing things confidently in hope of a personal advance at the same. Maybe NTs tend to crave fame and success more then ASD people, so it renders us hard to understand its process.

Hope I didn't write too much rubbish.

I worship one of the waitresses in Monk's Cafe on Seinfeld (season 8 ), and the stunt girl on the dirt bike in a certain movie............................................. But not because the acting resume' :P .

Because she's my wife!

Back to the topic, I think people are fascinated with celebrities and people who seem to be in a position of power. Probably it's a number of reasons, including maybe that people want to have success and power, and the money & fame that often comes along with those things.

Do the "celebrities" have to be real or human? When I was a teen while other girls were acting like lunatics over NKOTB, I was obsessed with Garfield the Cat. I had posters and plushies and books of him all over my room. I draw cartoons myself and back then I didn't care about much about anything that wasn't out of a cartoon or comic strip. Today I think nearly all human "celebrities" have nothing I want to celebrate about, they are drug addicts, nymphos, liars, cheaters, adulterers, anorexic, bulimic horrible role models, and have no real talent.
It's disgusting and utterly shameful and I weep for the world.

I once worked as a dispatcher for a private air transportation firm. In this job, I talked to celebrities and their agents on a routine basis. Some of these people are really nice, and some of them are real a$$#073$. As far as I am concerned, someone who appears regularly on TV has a job just like everyone else. It so happens that this person's work is in front of a bunch of other people. These people get out of bed and go to work, and when the workday is finished, come home.

I most cases, these folks are not really any more talented than any of the rest of us. They only got discovered or became known to other powerful people who allowed them to join that power structure. Talented performing people can be found in nearly every city in this nation (or the world for that matter). In many cases, this local talent is much better than those who winds up on national TV. I mean, does anyone think that those losers on Jersey Shore or the Kardashians are any smarter or more talented than most of us here? I definitely don't. However, these are the ones that are worshiped for simply appearing in front of a camera for a few times a week.

Britney Spears is an example of someone who has talent but not necessarily any more than can be found at local dance clubs, yet she decided to squander it on drugs and wild living. Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson and Susan Boyle are examples of people who had extraordinary talent, and yet two out of three of them died from drugs.

No, I don't envy or worship celebrities. I actually pity many of them. Many of them have to fight for what little privacy they can get, and even if they so much as pick their nose, it will end up in the tabloids. Many of these people cannot even go to the store without having to bring security along or go out in some form of disguise. In addition, any perversion or moral shortcomings in their lives will be quickly shouted from the rooftops. If I hear someone talking constantly about a celebrity, I want to ask that person, "How has so and so improved your life or finances?" Celebrity worship actually disgusts me.

I live in Los Angeles and you don't see celebs every day as people think we do.

As for the celebrity thing, I like Joan Jett (and other members of the Runaways) because they showed the world that girls can play rock music (I'm a bit of a feminist, as you can see). I couldn't care less about the drugs they got involved in (although I do like how Cherie Currie turned her drug addiction around, wrote a book, and speaks out against drug addiction). I like Kristen Stewart (NOT because of Twilight) because she isn't a stereotypical actress that is all smiles. I like her "leave-me-alone" attitude because I'm like that a lot. When I saw the Runaways movie coming out (I didn't know about the band before then), I didn't want to watch it because it featured two Twilight stars. Instead, I thought, "Oh, a movie about an all-girl rock and roll band. That sounds interesting!"

I'm getting off topic, aren't I?

The celebrities now are more concerned of their body image then some teenagers because they're always under a bright spotlight. I pick up a magazine on the kitchen counter and the entire cover is about celebs with eating disorders. Some magazines here and there show celebs learning from their mistakes, but that's rare.
