how much of a need is out there for a PC based assistive speech device? Some years back I began a software project I named Speak Freely
The idea being that commercial devices like Dynavox and others are way overpriced and therefore those who need them most can't afford them.

So anyway I put together 2 interfaces on is a simple typing input system (ie you type, hit enter it speaks the text) the second a picture based system. (ie touch the pec it speaks the message)
Now a shortcomming is that I built it using the fesitval light speach engine (sounds very computer generated) (If anyone out there can code a MaxMsp object with a better engine please let me know (coded in C I can email a copy of the developers kit)

Also if there are people out there who would benifit PM me I will post a working copy (its a work in progress) on my google site.
