When my stomach or bowels is acting up i.e. cramping, hurting then it can get in the way of me socializing. It's just too distracting. To make matters worse nobody knows that that's what's going on, because they can't see the stomach trouble. People know I have stomach problems, but they can't know when and it would be too awkward to explain away every time I don't respond due to my stomach by bringing up my stomach problem.

What if all of the symptoms of AS in my case is gastrointestinal and I don't really have AS? What if curing my gastrointestinal issues will cause me to be undistracted by my stomach and bowels and be able to focus more on socializing?

Has this turned out to be the case when anyone here? If not have you seen any connection at all between improving gastrointestinal issues and improving social skills?

I've found most everything that can distract me makes socializing harder - pain, stomach issues, anxiety. It's hard to manage a front and cope with other problems at the same time.

Yup. I'd say it's about impossible.

A naturopath friend says the gut connection is relevant.
