Do you enjoy vacations? I'm always very stressed about vacations. Especially since I'm the one packing and organizing everything. Yet we do it every year. It's like an obligation I have to fulfill every summer, to look like we're "normal". I especially don't like the "visiting family" kind of vacation. I like hotels much better than in-law's basement. But we keep doing that as well, because you know, they're family and you're supposed to visit. This year we're going to visit family again, and help them clear out a storage room, oh and there's some family reunion for MIL's extended family as well. Wonderful (I hardly know any of those people). Thank goodness my in-laws are very easy-going or I'd be even more stressed.

On the plus side, all of us are always soooo happy when we come home. :D And we always take a couple extra days after a vacation to relax. Oh and I suppose it'll be a lot cheaper than our Southern California vacation last year but take just as much time.

Does everybody else take vacations every year? Do you feel like it's a chore that you just have to do?

What I hate about travel is unpredictabilty.
- Food times change, there's no pantry to forage from, and my degestion gets all screwy.
- There's no escape route in an unknown place. If I get overloaded, I don't have a safe place to go to or any way to get there / get away from the source of the overload.
- Getting to the car/airport/etc always stresses everyone else out. This leads to tempers, yelling, arguements and other stressors.
- Did I forget to pack something important? I may need it! What is it!
- I can't just up and leave and come home to respool.
- When will I be able to do laundry. Will the shower suck? Is the water dangerous?

I'm on vacation now. My moms house is ok but as soon as it gets too dicey i'm over here at my sisters. shes totally a good person to be around, and has a nice house. so its a joy to stay here with her, the only probelm is i'm not getting any sleep. (i need lots of room to move around, when I sleep.)

but i can deal with it.

I'm going on holiday tomorrow - a week in Wales and a week in Ireland. We're taking my parents, as usual. The choice of holiday is ultimately my decision. I find the accommodation and my family trust me with it all, and no-one ever says 'No' to my suggestions, which is a big burden. We're self-catering, so taking some food, etc. My husband oversees the packing, but last holiday he forgot the teabags, which was a disaster for my Mum, the first night and next morning, so I'll be checking. When we get there, I'm really in charge of the activities. I find that quite stressful, but I've been told that I always come up with good ideas, so I'm left with it. Yet again, no-one ever says 'No' to anything I suggest. The first week is fine as we've been several times to the same place. But, the second week is more of an adventure as we've never been to that part of Ireland before and I haven't searched for things to do yet. I think we'll rely on the owner of the cottage to give us some ideas or take a trip to the tourist info - this is not like me at all. A lot of preparation goes into our holidays, but I still feel disorganised.
