Or at short notice? I do - I feel horribly invaded and vulnerable. I need a few days to prepare for any visitor and even then I'm terribly nervous as the time they are due to arrive approaches. I'd really rather not have people round at all, to be honest, and I just can't cope with surprise visits. Is this typical Aspie stuff?

If someone shows up at my doorstep without warning I have a tendency to open the door, stare at them for a moment, then suddenly slam the door in their faces and not even realize Ive done it.. makes for interesting apologies.

Guess I kind of panic :P

That's why I love the bar room. It's a barrier between the door and I can peek out without being seen, decide if the person is someone I like well enough to let him/her in, or just sneak back into my room and continue watching tv.

I also have this tendency to just stare at them, until they have to invite themselves in.
If it is someone I really like I'll be happy, of course.

I have a brother and a stepbrother who both like to bring friends over to the house and neither for my dad or my stepmom are very particular about needing any warning about it. They have been somewhat more strigent in case of my stepbrother as of late because of the crowd he hangs out which is fortunate (for me). Many times when I see a car(s) pulling up into our driveway I will mutter, "oh sh*t!" to myself because it will mean I will have to leave due to the sudden rise in noise (stereos, loud talking) due to arrive. This noise ruins my concentration, and ruining my concentration screws up whatever I was doing. My brother, though, is about to move out. :)

Yeah, what Jimservo said. My own friends don't stop by because, well, I don't know but I'm fortunate. It's mostly when my parents ask people over and tell me little before. Usually I manage to lock myself in my room, but all the noise still gets through the walls.

People showing up unannounced ranks up there with having my fingernails pulled out. I hate it, there are few things I hate more. I feel so violated when this happens, I can't even describe it. :(

Yes I hate that. I don't even open the door often or I'm at least very reluctant to do it.

No one shows up at my house uninvited beause i don't know anyone. so i assume that leaves only people like the UPS guy and occasionally the mailman, and jehovas whitnesses to chance. and yes i hate it, i usually just act like im not home by being real quite untill they go away so i don't have to answer the door.

Yes, I hate this as well. No one ever comes over for me, but I also live with my parents, so people come over for them sometimes. Whenever someone comes over who I don’t know really well I will usually just hide in my room and pretend to be asleep, a lot of times I’ll do this even if I’ve known for days that they were coming.

This might not necessarily be an AS thing though, it might just be a social anxiety disorder thing, which often goes with AS.

all depends on who it is, most of the time an uninvited guest is great since most of the time i am bored out of my skull.

Yes hate it! I'm usually running around home in my pajamas or underwear so I don't like unexpected guests. I just wish the UPS guy would leave my package at the door.

Yeah I get really scared when someone like a Jehovs Witnesses appear out of no where outside while I'm alone. I usually call my mother to tell me what to do. I know that's a little childish for a 20 year old but that's what I do. I sometimes freak out when UPS people come up to my drive way.

Unexpected guests ...hide the bunnies ,might be the landlord....get some clothes on,check the face to make sure I dont have any sleepy eye crust or dry drool(I only drool sleeping.so quit laughing at me)

God forbid it was years ago when I was still trying to date and it might be a potential date...just dropping by...in the neighborhood, and all that....in the middle of one of my obsessions....art supplies and saw dust spread all over the apt.,I havent had a shower in a week, dishes and garbage have life forms setting up house....forgot to scoop the cat litter....ooopps.Nice impression.

I hate being disturbed when I am in the obsessionof the moment....arggggg...I even find IM intrussive...
