This is something that I have done since I can remember. I usually rock slightly in public, more at home and I headbang to music, sometimes intensely, given the right environment. It gives me this strange feeling of calmness and it blocks things out. Anyone else do this?

I do rock sometimes and when I get frustrated I bang my head against the wall-I have always done it.

I rock often, especially when talking to people.

When I get really frustrated to the point of meltdown, I sometimes feel the urge to bang my head, but I don't usually follow through with it. I did once recently, and I have in the past, but not very frequently.

I do rock *a little bit*...but I don't think it's too noticeable. Or, at least, no one has commented on it.

Extreme meltdowns for me always involve my fist meeting my face, with brutal intentions. I remember my elementary school years being hell, kids always made fun of me for the rocking thing.:|

I rock when required to be still and quiet and stimless, such as in church.

I don't headbang, exactly, but I hit/punch my head, if that counts. Just feels good.

Mostly, if my meltdowns got to the point of doing violence, I usually picked on inanimate objects. I've gone through many many computer keyboards and a few books this way.

I rock all the time, sometimes without me being consciously aware of it. As for headbanging, I can't say that I do that.

I've only done the headbanging thing a few times. Bouncing it off the pillow doesn't count; that's different.

I rock when I'm thinking hard, excited, very focused on something, or just have a lot of energy. I also bounce, swing my legs, tap my feet, etc. I try not to do it so much in public because I know it distracts people, but if I know I'm not going to distract anybody, I go right ahead. I spent my whole childhood "sitting still" for people; but I'm an adult now and can make my own decisions, and if I want to bounce I'm going to bounce whenever I like. As long as I don't annoy anybody, anyway.

I rock myself to sleep at night, but I don't head bang.

That's about how it is for me. It takes a lot to get me to where I feel any impulse to headbang, so it hardly ever happens. I think I only ever did it once, but it was against a wooden bedpost, not against concrete or a wall or anything.

Punching my head with hands, or other things does happen from time to time, though. I have found that that Dish TV remotes are very sturdily built when it comes to that.

Apparently when I'm singing I sway from side to side in this really obvious, annoying way. People have told me this (or told me to stop this) all my life.

I have hit myself in the head once or twice when under extreme duress.

Metallica=awesome

I rock a lot. Heck I am doing it right now. When I get REALLY stressed I smack my head against concrete walls until it bleeds. Not good. Still got the mark from the last time. I also head bang in the rock sense though to music!

I pick at the surface of my skin when made to sit still, and I rock slightly when I make myself not pick at my skin.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I also chew the cuff of my left sleeve. Most of my shirts' left sleeves are ruined because of this.
