Does anyone else tend to do things out of the "normal" order they were meant to be done. I always do this, I"ll start whatever it is, I won't even think of how it's supposed to be done, I just go straight to the way that makes sense to me. It's not that I don't understand why it might be done the other way, mine just makes more sense and is the "obvious" first choice in my eyes. It may take more or less time, but I eventually will get the job done. So many people get pissed when I try to do things in my [ehem, the real right] way.
For me it's often at work when I need to make some pizzas and i have the ticket in front of me and I make the pizzas out of the order on the ticket. People freak out about it, but it makes more sense to say, do all the similar pizzas first and save the different ones for the end.
Others get so frustrated. Anyone else have this? What is your 'thing'?

Yes, my method of problem solving and "the proper order" doesn't often coincide with what other people believe should be the right way to go about something. I'm having trouble coming up with a specific example, but yes, I do relate.

I have unique, comprehensive insights and think ahead much further than the average person, so my "methods" appear to be strange even though they are (usually) perfectly logical.

You're minimizing switching time which minimizes overall labor. Grouping together tasks and executing them all at the same time definitely saves time, so this is perfectly logical.

However, in this situation, some pizzas might have priority over others if there's a certain "fairness to the customer" involved with something along the lines of "first come, first served".

I could write an encyclopedia listing all the "weird" ways I do things.

I clean the restrooms out of order. I was taught in which way to do them but I don't remember the order so I do it my way. Empty the trash first, check the paper towels and see if they need to be stocked, check the sanitary bags and the toilet paper and see if they need to be changed. Sweep the floor, clean the sinks and then the counter tops and dust the top of the stalls and toilet paper and toilet seat covers and sanitary bags holders. Clean the mirror, clean the inside of the toilet bowls, wipe the toilets, mop the floors. Done.

I also vacuum the office spaces as I am vacuuming the halls and I even vacuum the conference rooms as I do it. Then I dust next. I get done early every time. I just figured I was doing it the NT way since I wasn't being rigid with my work routine schedule but I guess not.
